Since March I've picked up students from across the country and we're really enjoying working on music together. Zoom, Skype and Facetime all work well. I've taught mandolin lessons for fifteen years and I am an instructor at the yearly Maine Fiddle Camp in Montville, ME. Sadly, we aren't having any live camps this year, but we are producing some online workshops and concerts.
You can follow Maine Fiddle Camp on Facebook. I hope you're all weathering this pandemic well. The contradancing that I play for is indefinitely on hold, but I am still teaching lessons for mandolin and tenor banjo via Skype/Zoom/FaceTime, or the video conference platform of your choice.

This New England trio has Glen with fiddler Dave Langford (Latter Day Lizards, Les Z Boys, and Big Bandemonium) and DADGAD guitarist Bethany Waickman from Anadama. They've played for contras throughout New England, and at dance weekends in Alaska, Tennessee, and Maryland. Frigate (the ship, not the epithet) is a trio based in Maine that plays for dances and events all over the state.
I offer private lessons for mandolin and tenor banjo from my home in Portland, ME. I try to keep things relaxed, and I tailor my approach to the interests and needs of each student. I teach primarily "by ear", although I do use a few chord diagrams and charts. We can use sheet music if you prefer, but most students find the experience of learning by ear satisfying.
