Scott started playing drums at age 4 and has been performing and teaching professionally since early in high school. He went on to get his degree form Berklee College of Music where he received the prestigious Steve Smith Scholarship. To further his education he has studied privately with Tommy Igoe, Yoron Israel, John Ramsey, Ian Froman, Ed Uribe, Bobby Grauso and is still constantly studying and practicing the art of drumming.

Please accept this letter as my endorsement of Scott Strunk as a competent percussion/drum instructor. Scott provided instruction to elementary and middle school students in Denville for the past five years. My middle school students have studied with him since they began instrumental lessons in fourth grade, and will continue private instruction into their high school years.
Scott Strunk, is available to record drum tracks for musicians and producers. In the studio, Scott starts by getting to know his clients and their music. After discussing the project and listening to the tracks, Scott creates the perfect drum part and records it in his state-of-the-art studio.
How can drumming help you throughout your life? Scott Strunk explains how drumming can actually quiet the noise of the world and drive us to a different beat. Get in the groove and stay in the groove to get through life's challenges. Scott's studio jams give students the invaluable opportunity to play with and be instructed by professional musicians.

My teen wanted to take drum playing to the next level. He was dedicated and determined and had several good teachers. However, when he switched over to Scott, my teen rocketed up in technique and skill sets. Scott took my kid from a kid with potential to an excellent drummer in just shy of nine months. Scott is an incredibly skilled musician AND instructor. I can't recommend him more strongly. -Beth Heaney

I took lessons with Scott for over six years (starting when I was 9 or 10) and always enjoyed learning from him! He allowed me to build a strong drumming foundation and confidence that I am able to carry into my 20's. He teaches a wide variety of drumming styles (Jazz, rock, funk, afrocuban, etc) and even helped me improve marching snare skills and mallet skills. I now play live shows and even at recording studios. Highly recommend Strunk Drum Studio to anyone with any amt of experience!

I took lessons with Scott for a bit over a year during my junior and senior year of high school. The technique lessons that Scott taught me, as well as the styles we worked on and everything else that he had to teach, set me up to get accepted to Berklee College of Music and have lasted with me ever since. The most important lessons I've taken on my instrument have been from Scott. I Highly, Highly recommend him - especially take lessons with him to study match grip technique.

If you want to learn drums or enroll your child in drums, this is the place to go! Scott has a great relationship with students and is very patient with his teaching. My son wanted to join school band as a percussionist but he had zero musical experience, and with Scott's help, within 8 months, he's outdoing his fellow percussionists that have been learning for 4+ years. Scott not only offers drum teaching, but even additional percussion instruments like mallets! He rocks!

Scott is the best. A great instructor, extremely patient. He has the knack to get the best out of his students. You don't learn to just play the drums with him, but you'd learn the art of making music. The studio has cutting edge devices and instrument for learning, jamming and for recording. Totally love it!

Scott is a wonderful drum teacher. My son has had lessons with him for the past 4 years. Thanks to Scott's teaching, guidance and extreme patience, my son has grown so much in his skills and confidence. My son went from banging some sticks around the house to getting into a higher band at the high school as a freshman. I can't thank Scott enough for instilling a love for music in my son!

Scott Strunk is a phenomenal drum teacher, both challenging and nurturing his students to bring out the best in them. Scott's studio is top notch, with 3 different drum sets for all levels with the capability to record the sessions for review and critique. Scott also has other percussion instruments available to use if needed. Scheduling lessons is a breeze with Scott's website access, and any questions submitted are answered in a very timely manner. Scott is also very knowledgeable about different learning techniques and able to adapt his approach to accommodate the individual. Highly recommended.

My son has taken lessons from Scott for 8 years. Over this time frame he has not only developed a real love for jazz music but has successfully played in the highest bands in his schools and has currently auditioned for and been accepted into the premier jazz band at the university he will be attending in the fall. His high school band teachers have repeatedly commented to me on his terrific growth and skill level over these last few years and I know that studying under Scott Strunk has made this all possible.

He is patient and has a teaching style that makes his students look at themselves when trying to solve musical problems. I highly recommend Scott as an excellent drum teacher!

My son has been having drum lessons with Mr. Scott for the past 5 years. It has been a very inspiring journey for my son. Scott is a wonderful and warm hearted person. Due to his great teaching, my son was able to get into higher bands. He couldn't have done it without Scott. My son loves going to Scott's class and wouldn't like to miss even a single one. Scott uses real life examples to help you learn drums. He makes playing drums into more than just playing an instrument. More over, he has a professional sound proof studio, and a comfortable waiting room.
