My son has had the pleasure and honor of attending BMS for quite some time and has truly been enriched. The unique and diverse student body is exemplary as it reflects the beauty of Brooklyn. From his infancy to his transition into teenage years, we have seen a phenomenal growth in terms of his personal and mental growth as a young man. We would highly recommend the school and it's programs to any parent seeking to engage their child ( children ) in programs of the arts that enrich, excicte and engage them in ways they could only dream.

My kids have taken private lessons and group lessons at Brooklyn Music School for the past 5 years. We've done classes for toddlers, dance, and group music classes and private lessons. Our kids still currently take private lessons and have gone to the summer camp which has been a wonderful experience for all of us. The teachers are phenomenal and we've seen our children develop an appreciation for music and grow as individuals.

Our children play violin and guitar respectively and our daughter absolutely loves the Strings summer intensive and asks to go back every year. The location is great in Ft Greene with access to every train at Atlantic Street and close to the G and A train. The building is beautiful and holds a lot of charm. The staff and teachers again are really remarkable and caring people. Check them out they rock and we love them.

Great location for live up and coming talent. The winter holiday spectacular show was beautiful. The children really impressed me with their skills especially for the age ranges. Puts me to shame lol. Please donate to this school if possible they can always use the funds for students growth and development.

BROOKLYN MUSIC SCHOOL. Talented young individuals are mold shaped and fashioned here. The teachers and staff do a phenomenal job in teaching and mentoring these young mines. They are the BEST in Brooklyn.

My daughter had been coming for many years. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. My child had truly grown as an individual as a performer because of their guidence, and the family feeling just cannot be replicated anywhere else. There are class for all levels and very affordable. After 7 years, I plan on keeping my child here through her teen years where she can then become a mentor. Nothing but great things!

Brooklyn Music School has been a wonderful and extremely impactful addition to my son's life. My son and I had been having a tremendous amount of trouble in schools with his behavior. My husband and I had tried our best to put him in pools all over Brooklyn, NY and nothing had changed. Obstacle after obstacle. hurdle after hurdle. phone call after phone call. school visit upon school visit. to no avail.

We were at the end of our hopes. Our son was one minor event away from being expelled from four schools. The school staff only provided him with 'extra chances' because he was so beloved. He is such a charming young man and a true master of multiple arts, but he could not get his behavior right. We took away privileges at home and tried to put him in countless after school activities and still nothing worked.

One day a family friend of ours recommended a school for him to attend. It was ICS NY. We loved it and decided to enroll him. He loved it too and began to behave for a week or two. Then he was right back to the same shenanigans. Honestly, his behavior only started to improve after he began attending the Thursday afternoon program via your partnership with his school.

And even then he would have on and off days that had us worried about him being excused from the program. Thankfully the staff was very patient with him and continued to work with him through his behavior issues. You guys truly believed and showed him you would not give up on him. Fast forward, now he has a great day mostly everyday in school. Especially because he does not want to be kicked out of his Rockband program.

He is madly in love with music even more now and has transformed into a new person. We're sure he will continue to blossom with the help of Brooklyn Music School. My husband and I are both into arts (music/dance), so we do understand some of the frustrations that a true artist can/will experience in environments where their expression is filtered or muted. Thankful is an understatement to what we are for this wonderful environment. We loved his Old Town Road vocal performance this evening. We are convinced that we have the next mega star on our hands.

The BMS has been a revelation for my daughter, who had previously spent 3-4 years playing violin when we decided to switch her over to cello, assuming the skills would carry over. Well, thanks to both her private instructor at BMS as well as her orchestral group her development has accelerated faster than even we expected. She’s since participated in a recital trip to Paris and had the most amazing group learning experience.

The teachers and faculty are becoming like family and this is probably the biggest factor in our daughter’s learning process. She looks forward to attending lessons, and that right there is the gamechanger. Of course none of this would matter if the instructors weren’t tier musicians themselves, but they are, so I am comfortable knowing that their skills and talent are rubbing off on our 9 year-old girl.

I personally cannot wait for my five year-old piano playing son to begin attending the school and unlocking his full potential. If you have a child that you want to introduce to the musical arts, I can’t think of a better home for music than the Brooklyn Music School.

Went to the special valentine event feat Janis Russell and all the students of the school; children, young as well as adults. It was truly inspiring and we had an amazing night. Recommend all to go there for one of their events.

My kids have been taking music lessons at the Brooklyn Music School for over a year now, and have spent some time in their summer camp. It is a pretty "rustic" (i.e. old and run down) building, but it has a lot of soul. You can feel they are working on low budget with an emphasis on serving their community, and this does not affect their quality - on the contrary - we've had really good music teachers there (tried guitar and piano) and have really enjoyed our interaction with them.

Classes at Brooklyn Music School are amazing. The place has an 'old school' New York Theater/School feel--- old wood, echoing hallways, classic fixtures, etc... The staff and crew are all pleasant, gracious and accommodating, and very knowledgeable. If voice is your thing, no matter if you're a beginner or already at the top of the charts, Dakota Macleod is the one to see. Outstanding professionalism,
high expectations, and unparalleled dedication to her students.

This is the second year my son attends the summer camp, and it has been great. He also took some dance classes. Overall the facility is in need of renovation, but the warmth and welcoming atmosphere makes up for it!

BMS made my son very happy. We attended the African dance class for toddlers. The teacher was welcoming, the class energy was amazing. My 2.5 year old jumped right in. It really made our whole weekend so much better. I'm definitely coming back.

BMS has been an amazing resource for me for both their after-school program (Arts Reaching Youth) and for their summer camp (Summer Institute). It's the perfect combination of cultural enrichment, fun and community. The staff is professional and personable and my son loves all of his counsellors and instructors.
