Private instruction is at the heart of the Academy. Piano is our most popular instrument for students to study. We understand that the relationship between the student and teacher is essential for student success. Because we have seven piano instructors on staff, we recommend a free 15-20 minute initial evaluation with the director before a student's first piano lesson.
The Santa Monica Academy of Music faculty is diverse and able to meet the needs of every level of student-beginner through advanced, children through adults. Our youngest student enrolled in private lessons is 5 years old and our oldest is 75 years old. Most importantly, our instructors possess a passionate dedication to music education and are university/conservatory trained.
Performing music is a thrilling and enriching experience that should be available to anyone who is learning an instrument. The Santa Monica Academy of music provides all students enrolled in private lessons with the opportunity to participate in our semi-annual recitals. These recitals are popular events at which students share their passion for making music with their friends and family.
We realize that you have a choice between manny different music schools in the Santa Monica and West Los Angeles areas. However, we are confident you will love taking music lessons at the Santa Monica Academy of Music and would like to offer you a FREE trial lesson. We want every student that enrolls in lessons to succeed and love music.

Our two daughters have taken piano lessons here for 5 years. It's been a great experience for both of them, and for us as parents. The teachers and staff take their work seriously and they are very good at what they do, yet they realize that kids need to be kids and accommodate their need for fun (within reason). Our teacher took time on a Saturday to help us shop for pianos--we got a better piano than we would have otherwise and it has made a huge difference in their playing skill. The academy holds recitals twice a year that are well-organized and fun, and showcase the many talents of the students. I can't recommend this place strongly enough!
