American Music Institute is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded and run by Remus Badea, our Executive Director. AMI's mission is to provide a high standard of music education to all students in all instruments, levels, ages, and styles of music. Our principle objective is to preserve the art of music education and music performance for future generations of the American society.
Music lessons are at the core of the music education that AMI offers in the Chicago area. All of AMI's faculty members are highly educated musical performers and instructors. The core instruments studied are piano, violin, guitar, and voice, plus all of the string, woodwinds, brass and percussion instruments.
In-home lessons are the perfect solution for busy families or students that live beyond driving distance to an AMI school location. Unlike other 'companies' that provide at-home music lessons, AMI has personal interviews (versus over-the-phone interviews) and direct communication throughout the month with all of the teachers that come to your home.

I have absolutely NO idea how anyone could post a positive review. I had a horrible experience with AMI. Not with our teacher, but with the administrative staff. They were combative and down right offensive. I shared my story with several parents and they told me that they knew people who had experienced stories that were very similar to mine. They are not willing to take responsibility for their actions and their customer service leaves little to be desired. My best advice is don't get entangled in this mess of a business. It's beyond disappointing to say the least!

AMI is an amazing organization. I feel like I am a apart of a determined institution that creates great musical learning experiences for all of their students. The faculty upholds degrees from the top music institutions. I take lessons from here all year round and also was a part of their really fun summer camp!

Our daughter loves taking lessons there. The teachers are very knowledgeable and very encouraging during the learning process. They are flexible with schedules and the teachers support and encourage the individual, no matter what level he/she is at. Would truly recommend AMI to anyone who wants to learn an instrument.
