The Conservatory of Central Illinois is the only not-for-profit community music school serving downstate Illinois. In the time since its founding, The Conservatory has taken its place as a leading cultural institution contributing to the quality of life in Champaign-Urbana.
Services
Champaign-Urbana has supported a youth orchestra since the 1960's when the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Guild first sponsored the Champaign County Youth Orchestra. In 1989, while under the music directorship of Jack Ranney, the orchestra became a program of The Conservatory of Central Illinois. At that time the name was changed to the East Central Illinois Youth Orchestra (ECIYO).
The Conservatory of Central Illinois is a not-for-profit community music school organized to provide opportunities for quality music education and experience in East Central Illinois without regard to personal circumstance. The Conservatory promotes a lifelong appreciation of music and serves as a resource for music education in the community.
