Lessons are given in a quiet and comfortable environment. My teaching studio is located in the Old Irving Park area of Greensboro, at 1515 W. Cornwallis Dr. Suite G-109. For someone just starting out, we'll work on building a solid foundation for playing the guitar. Examples: exercises for building up finger strength and coordination, basic chords, scales and reading tablature.
An introduction to music theory. We'll also work on creating good habits and practice discipline. After evaluating, I'll formulate a lesson plan to build on and improve the student's skill level.

Learning guitar via online lessons is a great alternative to in person lessons. At home convenience, while benefiting from a real time experience having the ability to ask questions and get answers. All lessons are one on one, and the lesson material is emailed to the student afterward. I'm currently using Zoom and Skype for video conferencing, Both are great!
My philosophy on guitar instruction is to ensure that the student learns all the tools necessary to achieve their personal goals and most importantly. Over the 30 years of instructing, I've taught hundreds of students. Every student is different in that the way they learn. I focus on and treat each student as an individual, focusing on their level of learning.

I took lesson from Jeff 20 years ago and 1 year ago. Jeff is not only an amazing musician, he's a fantastic teacher. He's able to teach whatever you need. Beginner to advanced. I would recommend him and have recommended him to anyone of any age or playing level. You won't regret taking lessons from Jeff.

I took lessons from Jeff Swanson for approximately 3 years. Jeff is a well accomplished guitar instructor who has a genuine care for his students. He has the ability to play and teach many different styles and genres. He effectively balances music theory and practical application, and has the experience to take a student as far as they are willing to go.

I wasn't a student long because at the time my health was poor and I was constantly sleeping and wasn't practicing much, but I thought Jeff did a great job teaching me the importance of music theory and notation for the guitar for the time I was his student. If you don't learn music theory with an instrument you'll be lost and unable to play and write great music for the guitar or any instrument. You can try tab but it doesn't help you play notes on the guitar all the time.

I have taken lessons with Jeff for a number of years and am always amazed by the depth of his knowledge and abilities. I had no musical training prior to beginning with Jeff and he has helped me with theory, technique, and motivation. He is a patient and challenging teacher. I would recommend him for any experience level. Jeff will make you a better player!
