Over the past few years, I have transcribed several tunes to sheet music. When purchasing from the list, please specify the name of the tune, whether you would like to receive the sheet music and audio files via email or postal mail, and your appropriate address. If the tune you want is not listed, you may email me an audio file for personalized transcription to sheet music.
Hopkins Music sells high-quality musical instruments and would be happy to answer any questions you may have about our inventory. Feel free to make a reasonable offer on any available instrument. If you want to sell an instrument, we would be more than happy to list it on this site for a 20% commission, payable after the sale.
Let me share a lesson taught to me by my grandfather and practiced by most well known Texas fiddlers. When you enter a fiddle contest, you want the best accompanists you can afford, and Texas is the place to find them. Most contests in Texas allow 3 accompanists plus 1 bass. If you decide to use a full powerhouse behind you and increase your odds of winning a contest, you should anticipate paying each one of them 10% of your total winnings. For example, the Texas State Championship Fiddlers' Frolics pays the winner $1,500.
