We are lucky to have Ms. Kim as our daughter's first piano teacher. Ms. Kim is a nice person, very patient while strict with small kids. Even for small beginners, she treats them as serious learners, starts with notes reading, easy pieces and gradually introduces the kids with short music pieces of Baroque, Classic, Romantic and Contemporary styles.
She also emphasizes the importance of sight-reading and playing techniques from the very beginning, teaches my daughter how to make good sound and encourages her playing piano by ears. Also, the school Veksler operates in a professional way. It will inform us about recitals(encourage to participate but not mandatory) and related fees ahead of time. Staffs here also help a lot, they provide us with flexible make-up class options when we are out for vacations - Erica D.'s parents

This is an excellent institution. My son Krithin A learns piano from Ms Marina and i accompany him to his class( fortunately the institute allows this). Ms Marina is an accomplished pianist and a highly commitment teacher. She sets a high bar for her students but at the same time patiently guides them till they get it right. This is very beneficial for beginners as they develop a strong fundamental of piano technique. Highly recommend.

My 9 year son has been taking piano lessons from Ms. Iva for almost a year now and he absolutely loves her. Ms. Iva is strict on the proper styles and finger positions but also super patient with my son. For a lot of missed lessons, Ms. Iva and the school are very accommodating in the make up lessons. I am super happy about the progress my son has made in the last year. He wouldn't have done it without his fantastic teacher!

My 5 year daughter goes to Veksler Academy for learning piano for quite sometime. I like Ms Anna's teaching how she sings along with playing also. That keeps my kid more engaged. And she also plays along with my kid during practice. This also gives my daughter more confidence. I would definitely recommend her.

My daughter is very happy with her singing lessons! Ms. Sheri is very friendly, very kind and she does her job very professionally! Rosi loves her and I couldn't be more pleased. I would recommend her to any of my friends who want their child to learn from the best! My daughter has improved a lot and always looks forward to her next lesson. Veksler Academy of Music & Dance is worth the time to explore and investigate opportunities for your child with regards to music education & dance and musicianship. Special thanks to Ms. Sheri!

My daughter, Aarika D has been taking Piano lessons here and is really enjoying it. Mr. Joel is an excellent teacher with a lots of patience. He has been motivating my daughter to further excel and is paying a lot of attention on her to improve further. We thoroughly enjoyed our daughter's on stage recital and appreciate all the hard work teachers and staff put to make the event huge success. Thank you all.

My daughter Anshu. T has been going to Veksler Academy for Piano for more than 2 years. Mr. Joel is a great Piano teacher. He is kind and patient in teaching. Especially during remote Zoom classes it was evident how he makes learning a fun for kids. Sometimes Mr. Joel sends review of songs over email. Recitals conducted by Academy in big auditoriums are great inspiration for kids and it gives good forum for them to show their talent. Veksler Academy keeps parents informed about all the events and respond to emails/calls promptly. We are lucky to have teacher like Mr. Joel. Thank You.

Mr Felix was a great guitar teacher for my daughter Lia A. for the last several years. Mr Felix is a terrific teacher, very passionate about music and a virtuoso guitar player himself. He doesn't do shortcuts, teaches classic techniques and encouraged my daughter to participate in recitals and talent shows. I don't think we'd achieve this progress with any other teacher. Thank you, Mr. Felix!

Three years ago our daughter Haley started her piano journey at Veksler Academy when she was only 5 years old. We can not thank her piano teacher, Ms. Nan, enough for her dedication and patience. Ms. Nan takes the time to connect with young kids and makes playing the piano fun! When things get hard she always makes sure that the little one is in her comfort zone and stays motivated. Ms. Nan also adjusts the learning material when she sees where my daughter's interests lie.
Under Ms. Nan's guidance, Haley has been able to overcome challenges without getting discouraged. Ms. Nan understands the difficulties in different learning phases and is devoted to help her students. Haley always is so excited for her lessons each week. Thank you Ms. Nan for all you have done to help Haley progress so much.

Worst front desk people I've ever seen. First of allthey are rude (it's the same in their Mountain View location), and on top of it they're incompetent. We made a simple request to re-schedule my daughter's piano lesson just for this week. When we showed up at newly arranged time (3pm on Wednesday), the front desk person tells us the teacher had emailed her earlier to tell her she couldn't make it.
They never even bothered to call us and said "sorry" (didn't sound like a genuine apology). This is after we had to juggle our schedules to bring our daughter in the middle of the afternoon. We will NOT be re-enrolling our daughter here. I encourage all parents to look elsewhere. There are plenty of great options in the area. Some quick updates.
First of all, the owner called me to follow up after my review and asked to delete my post (after a cursory apology). I suspect he made this request to everyone who left a bad review and that probably explains why the average rating is not horrible. Please do not fall for this and delete your reviews! Secondly we paid to have our daughter participate in the Spring Recital.
They were quick to cash our check, but when we showed up to the recital, our daughter's name was missing from the program and had to scramble to add her to the schedule. They told us they'd print a new program with our daughter's name added and of course they never followed through (not that we ever believed what they said). Thankfully starting in a few weeks, we'll have a new piano teacher.
Now I have to respond to the business owner's mis-information in his comments. Our daughter did not attend Veksler for 3 years. She attend a music class for 1 school year (less than 10 months), and then took piano lessons for another school year. We switched from Mt. View to Sunnyvale location since we were dissatisfied with the unfriendly front-desk people Mt.
View only to learn that they're horrible in both locations. For the recital, our daughter's name was on the list for the rehearsal at Veksler's the week before. So something happened between the rehearsal and the actual recital at Santa Clara University. It looks like he's trying to throw the teacher under the bus for the mishap. As for the address being mis-printed on an updated program, I think I'll leave that one alone and let others make up their own minds.

My daughter goes to both the Sunnyvale and Mountain View schools, and her teacher is Ms. Poon at both places. I would highly recommend Ms. Poon and the Veksler Academy to anyone wanting an excellent ballet experience. Ms. Poon is an amazing and wonderful teacher who truly cares about her students and wants them to excel. She has an unending amount of patience.
It is not easy to work with kids under 5, especially early in the morning on weekends, but I have watched her deal with difficult children with kindness and patience. Ms. Poon takes the time to make sure that the children in her class understand everything they've learned in class rather than rushing kids out of the door after class, which I really appreciate.
It makes me feel like my child is valued, not just a client to make money off of. Right now, they are working on their dances for the recital, and Ms. Poon has chosen to take so much extra time out of her days to make sure her students are comfortable and well prepared. It might be hard on the parents and kids to have an extra hour or two or rehearsals for the recital, but Ms. Poon is there all day making sure our kids are ready. My daughter has really enjoyed her classes and has learned a lot. She is lucky to work with such a phenomenal teacher. Thank you Ms. Poon and Veksler Academy!

It has been a very mixed experience. My son had two good teachers who left. The high teacher turnover might be related to the direction that looks so rigid and money-driven. Dance classrooms are too small. Dance level of most teachers is a bit too low to provide good examples for the kids. This is very apparent during the shows where even-though the kids are cute, the average dance quality (specially in ballet) is very low.

Miss Mariana has been a very good teacher and has been a favorite with kids she is highly professional but the management is such a let down. The management communications are very pathetic and are only behind money registrations/dance show ticket sales/costume sales etc worst they pack the dance classes with lot more kids and it is very tough on dance teachers. The attitude of the lady in reception is pathetic needs to learn manners esp when you conduct such a business in US!

I have only good words for the Vekslar Academy. My daughter started there with the Angelina Ballerina ballet class. She really enjoyed them as a 3 year old. Since the age of 4 she's been learning piano. She's had wonderful teachers. She was a little intimidated with the piano when she started but her teachers teaching style made her very comfortable. Teachers there are great with young kids.
We recently had to shift to a new teacher since timings were not working out. She's very professional and encouraging. The staff is very understanding and try their best to make adjustments. As a bonus, they arrange for great recitals!

I've been taking my two kids ( boy 14, girl 11) to Veksler Academy for the last 6 years for piano lessons and for dance lessons. The teachers are professionals and adapt their teaching to the age and personality of each child. The academy also provides great recital opportunities twice a year, which helps the kids build their performance skills and gives the kids a great sense of accomplishment and confidence in their art. I'm happy to say I'm enrolling my third child (boy 6) into this academy. I highly recommend Veksler academy!

I don't recommend this place for piano lessons. My son had lessons years ago and my review for this place is long overdue. The teacher, Mary, was the worse piano teacher I have ever encountered. She was disrespectful as a teacher and did not even try to connect with my son. I was glad she would miss classes so we had a makeup teacher. The makeup teacher wasn't good, but at least not worse.
I respect all businesses that promote the arts. However, our experience here was not good. I am happy to say that we never quit after this bad experience. Instead, it encouraged us to find a better teacher.

I have been very impressed with the school's response to our earlier concerns. They have been bending over backwards to ensure that we actually receive all the lessons we are paying for - we are getting plenty of warning when there will be a schedule conflict, with flexible options for reschedules. Again, the teachers are fantastic (we love Miss Hazel for viola), the recitals are terrific, and based on the response we've seen I believe the leadership really cares. so we are sticking with Veksler!

First of all, when you register, they make you buy their " Angelina ballerina tutu and head band" saying only wearing this can you go to their class. That outfit ended staying at home for the whole semester. No one else wore it in class either. The kids were just 3-4 years old, they wear what they want to and no one cared. So why, why force every customer purchase what they don't need? Second, there is only one class in June after Mays recital.
And they charge you full price! Their explanation: they charge flat rate because some months there are five weeks. So what? Some months there are only three class weeks because of holidays! 75 dollars for one class and they charge you in the last day of May to make sure you can't escape! Third, in terms of dance quality. The choreographies on the recital were ok, the dancers were super adorable, the techniques were awful. I'm not talking about the little ones, I'm talking about the older ones, even the teens.
The so called "VIP" dancers can't even keep their legs straight and pointed. To sum up, completely disappointed at their teaching quality and upset about the way they squeeze every quarter out of your pocket! Just a Russian name, nothing Russian technique wise! Don't go!

Immediately following my review, the Director emailed me and followed up with a phone call. He clarified that the 1:14 ratio was due to the make up classes and promised it will not happen again. He also has promised to make sure to the 30 minute class starts on time for the 'Angellina and Ballerina' program. I was pleasantly surprised with his response. He truly cares about his school and has his heart in the right place.

The school provides a good after school program. Very convenient to have music and dance lessons in one location, especially if you can work your schedule and have kids lessons back-to-back. Good location and nice teachers. Keep up doing a great job, and remember, it's always the space for improvement!

My twin daughters have been attending Veksler Academy for almost 3 years. They are taking piano lessons and I am very happy with the lessons and their instructor, Mr. Joel Tepper. Better yet, my girls enjoy taking piano lessons. They look forward to going to their lessons and performing in the recitals Veksler Academy has twice a year. If you are looking for somewhere to take music or dance lessons this is the place to go.

I have 2 kids and finaly I am very happy that they join this school after new year. I was able to schedule music lessons for my son and ballet class for my daughter at the same time. And that's on Saturday! Exellent ballet teacher. My son has already participated in Spring recital. His teacher help him not just prepare a song for the performance, but showed to him how to enjoy playing in front of people. I would highly recommend this school to any parents. A+

Our son started learning Piano (private lessons) when he was a little over 3.5 yrs old. Even though our son enjoyed listening to music and is/was good at memorizing the tunes/songs ...we were a little skeptical about his ability to stay focused and learn Piano at that young age. Within a month's time we were pleasantly surprised to see his progress...
Our son is now nearly 4 yrs 9 months and has already given 2 wonderful recitals. He now religiously practices piano every day...and enjoys attending his weekly classes. The piano teachers at Veksler Academy are very patient while interacting with young kids and yet very professional. We very highly recommend Veksler Academy !!.

My son started his first private piano lesson at the Veksler school over a year ago when he was just 3.5 years of age. We had tried another private piano teacher before this and had felt very disheartened. But I am glad we tried the Veksler School! The teachers at the school are extremely dedicated and focused on teaching and catering to each age group separately.
With our son, we found the teacher had an amazing amount of patience - getting through to a 3.5 year old with music lessons on the piano is a tough job - my son at just the age of 5 can now recognize wrong notes after playing a song once! Not only teaching, but the staff also helps inculcate a lot of confidence in children with their patience and understanding that each age group is different and moreover, each child is different.
We have seen that piano lessons have improved our son's concentration, coordination skills and raised his self esteem. At the Veksler school, they even organize recitals at the theater where the children get an opportunity twice a year to play on stage. Some added benefits are the professionally set up music studios designed for all ages- adjustable benches, foot stools, a professional environment, friendly staff, a place where students can learn both music and dance.
We first heard of the Veksler Academy from one of our friends who had their son enrolled there at the same age - 3.5 years. Now we would happily recommend to parents with kids as young as 3.5-4 that piano classes can be an extremely useful tool in their child's learning and growing process. At least with our son enrolled at Veksler Academy we do feel fortunate that we found the correct place for his private lessons!.

For family circumstances, my 5-year son could take just one semester of piano lessons in Veksler Academy of Music. But this experience had a profound impact on his general development, his attitude toward study, his self-consciousness and self-esteem. He has learned how to confront the challenges and to make the best use of his time and efforts. He has discovered the miracle of overcoming difficulties and of achieving results to be proud of.
He loved his teacher and loved the music he was to study. The culminating event of the semester was the school's public concert in the Le Petit Trianon Theater in San Jose. Not only every kid tried to mobilize and demonstrate all his or her potential for this event, but it learned them also to appreciate the effort and worth of their peers. The Veksler Academy faculty are splendid musicians and superb teachers who are bringing to the Bay Area the best artistic and musical-pedagogical traditions of the world-famous Russian piano school.
