Private Music Teacher with excellent references now accepting students in Glenwood Springs, Carbondale and Garfield County, Colorado for winter 2016.
I'm Professional singer/songwriter and music teacher Jill Cohn, (www.jillcohn.com) providing music lessons for all ages and all levels and styles in: Voice, Acoustic Guitar, Piano, Flute and Songwriting.
Flute students will benefit greatly from having private Flute Lessons, and while I use the Rubank Method I also will help Band Students master their in class music assignments.
Vocal Students: ages 7 - adult, will work on song based technique along while developing a solid vocal technique that is based in the Classical Traditions, but can be easily applied to any music style. I believe that no one has a "pitch problem", but most vocal problems come from not having enough working knowledge of how our instrument actually works. I've been studying voice since I was 13 and continue to be a professional pop/folk singer since 1994. I teach a very usable technique entitled "Freedom of Natural Voice Production"- by Jazz singer, Kevyn Lettau, who is a world renowned San Diego Based Performer and Vocal Instructor. She has studied, consolidated and taught from the teachings by vocal masters, Helen McComas and Mr. Shustroff. In addition to continuing my own personal vocal studies with Kevyn for over 25 years, I do have in depth knowledge from studying extensively also with: Seth Riggs Studios (Los Angeles) and Maestro David Kyle (Seattle Wa).
Guitar: ages 6 and up beginning method for children -Theory and song based.
Pre-teen, Teen and Adult Acoustic Folk Guitar for singers
Piano: Classical Alfred or Thompson method taught all ages, beginner - advanced. For singers, I also provide chord based how to piano accompaniment and do not require the student to learn to read music.
Professional coaching and mentoring of semi- professional songwriters wanting to start or grow their carers as touring artists.
Please call or email for details and pricing. Thank you!

Report
Cohn plays songs from her latest album, Beautiful I Love You, her first in nearly five years. Much of the album is composed of bittersweet ballads (with a few toe-tappers interspersed) about trails leading west from Carolina, good and bad times on the road, and, naturally, the elusiveness of true love.
A Radio Station recently called a concert with Jill Cohn "an evening of Folk Americana Bliss". Her Soul-Stirring Voice in combination with lush arrangements of toe tapping road stories had the Los Feliz Journal (Los Angeles, CA) naming her "Beautiful I Love You" album a top 10 indie pick of the year.

JIll Cohn made me feel quite comfortable with my singing right from the start, which I believe is essential for any new singing voice. To put it another way, she made me feel right at home. Her lesson plans were always very clear and structured, giving me a clear understanding of the techniques being tought. I really feel like I have gained much of the knowledge and tools needed to take my singing to the next level.
