Our mission to provide an outstanding comprehensive music education and the highest quality performance that will educate and entertain. It is my desire for the students to enjoy music to the fullest and want to share their gift with others.
Many younger students are often pressured to learn music because it is good for them. However, when someone is heavily pressured into something reactance often follows especially in children. My philosophy is to have the students develop a desire and passion for music. Often it starts with piano but will expand to other areas of interest. Students have shown an increase in interest and motivation in school work, extracurricular activities and a desire to better themselves.
Learning piano correctly is something that is very important because it is the foundation in which you build on. Like they say, fixing a bad habit is always harder than learning something new. However, at the same time a bad habit can be always fixed if done the correct way.
I believe enjoying to play the piano is the most important. Without it, one will never be motivated to want to grow. However, enjoying the piano is not so easy for some. Challenges often arise and many get discouraged after being unable to overcome them.
One of the main challenges for students is the ability to sight-read. This is one of the top reasons why students often get discouraged from piano whether they are children or adults. But once you learn how to read music, students will often try to learn new music themselves. Isn't that the main goal for many? To learn music all on their own. Whether it be a song you hear on the radio or a famous classical piece.
Nevertheless, similar to a wonderful recipe it's a combination of "ingredients" that makes it great. Each individual student is different, therefore I will tailor my teachings based on their strengths, weakness and interests. I will choose, combine or invent materials and approaches that work best for that specific student.
Remember, music is suppose to be fun but also requires effort from both parties (student/teacher).
