I have been teaching both privately and in schools in nyc since 1993, and i teach out of my private studio (w/ three drumsets!) in the music building (38th. & 8th ave.). It's a huge space with 'stage lighting', air-conditioning and heat. Also, it is conveniently located by virtually every train. House calls are also available at a higher rate.
♫ In my lessons i emphasize reading drum music (i will teach you). I combine snare drum studies -rudiments/ exercises, metronome practice and grip (matched or traditional) - along with drum set studies - hands and feet - techniques. I also focus on groove/independence practice and playing along with music--both your favorite cds as well as my original sequenced music written for students. For professionals and more advanced students, one of my specialties is soloing vocabulary.
♫ Some of my past and present students include not only well-known drummers, but several celebrities as well, including nyc police commissioner Ray Kelly, ny times' best-selling author koren zailckas, and actors Eric Thal and (currently) Haley Joel Osment.
Teaching/ practice hours. Call to see which slots are filled. Monday: 4-7 pm, Tuesday: 3-7 pm, Wednesday: 4:00-11:00 pm, Friday: 4:00-11:00 pm, Saturday: 4-8 pm sunday: noon-6pm. I can come to you 7 days a week). To inquire or schedule a lesson, please call: 917.650.9847.

I've been studying drums with Tad on-and-off for five years now and seen him perform many times. He's a great, great drummer and a great teacher who's well-versed in any style (rock, blues, funk, jazz, fusion, latin, etc.). He's able to quickly zero in on whatever difficulties I encounter in my own playing and suggest exercises to correct them. Since studying with him, I've been able to expand my own playing to include funk and big band jazz. Thanks, Tad!

I took my first drum lesson from Tad 5 years ago, and to this day I am always learning something new. I had never had any drum instruction, never played drums before until I went to Tad, and now I have been playing in bands and performing in venues around the city! Tad teaches several genres of music, to develop his students into diverse musicians, he teaches technique, both traditional and match, theory, chart reading, improvisation, and has an endless number of exercises to improve speed and agility to get better chops!
Over the years getting to know Tad, I know how dedicated he is to his students and how much he loves teaching. I've been learning instruments and music since I was a kid, and from my experience I've found Tad to be a top-level instructor. Outside of class I've had the opportunity to see Tad play with several different bands around the city, and whenever I see Tad play I am always inspired to become a better drummer.

I've been taking drum lessons with Tad for almost 5 years. I personally think Tad is an amazing teacher. Tad teaches several genres of music to develop his students into diverse musicians. He teaches technique, drum chart reading, theory, improvisational playing, as well as many practical exercises to improve your chops. I've had several years of music training before I started drums and from my experience I've found Tad to be a very thorough teacher and has a never-ending list of new material to work on.
He cares about the progression of his students, and teaching the techniques that make an amazing drummer. I can tell that he really enjoys teaching. I am always learning something new in his classes. I've also been to Tad's performances outside of class and listening to him play inspires me even more to become a great drummer.
