The Academy was founded 7 years ago as a private music training program when Joe Ferrante was a freshman at the University of Southern California as a composition for film and TV major. Beginning with only a few students who took lessons in the Ferrante home in Monrovia, the academy soon grew to 70 students. Voice, guitar and violin were added, and it soon was necessary to obtain a larger space with more instructors who could teach a variety of musical instruments. In 2003 the Joe Ferrante Music Academy made its debut on Colorado Blvd. in Monrovia. Continuing to grow, they soon added a second location on the same street to accomodate more demand for private training, which now also included tutoring in language arts and math. Currently, the Joe Ferrante Music Academy has 300 students and 20 teachers providing the utmost quality of private music lessons, math and language arts tutoring.
Each lesson is taught under the oversight and philosophy of Joe Ferrante, a graduate of USC in Music Theory & Composition with an emphasis in Scoring for Motion Picture and Television. Joe has studied piano extensively in New York and France with Jeaneane Dowis-Lipman of The Juliard School, and at MannesCollege in Manhattan. Recently, Joe has recorded andconducted 7 of his original film scores at Paramount Pictures with medium and large symphony orchestras. Whether it be music, language arts or math, the philosophy of the academy is the same: "We want quality training at an affordable price."

At Joe Ferrante Music Academy, we have a unique music lesson program that includes degreed teachers, a stimulating musical environment, student progress reports (STEP Reports) , practice incentives (Academy BUCKS) , and several performance opportunities throughout the year. We pride ourselves in not just being a place to learn an instrument, but rather a place to become a musician and flourish. Our academy offers students private music lessons with high quality music training and performance opportunities, and gives them the opportunity to be submerged in an inspiring, musical atmosphere. We find that our approach to musical training and education, specifically our Academy Experience, encourages our students to be continually challenged, develop confidence, and have fun while they're learning. Each one of our teachers are degreed performers who are professionals in their craft and passionate at what they do. We strive to be the perfect place for anyone who loves music or who wants to immerse his or her child in a friendly and nurturing musical environment.
The Joe Ferrante Music Academy was founded in 2003 as a private music training program when Joe Ferrante was at the University of Southern California as a Music Composition/ Scoring for Motion Pictures & Television (SMPTV) major. Beginning with only a handful of students who studied with Joe in the Ferrante family home in Monrovia, Joe soon realized he would need help and proceeded to recruit his USC colleagues to teach. The ensuing combined effort elevated the fledgling academy-to-be to nearly 100 students by mid-2004.
My passion for music was discovered by my parents at a very young age. I am so thankful to God that He directed us on the right path to begin nurturing and developing my skills at [Joe] Ferrante Music Academy where I first began training in Music, Voice and Piano. I will always remember the wonderful teachers and fun recitals.

Researchers probing the inner workings of the brain have found neutral firing patterns that bear a remarkable resemblance to music - suggesting that music may hold the key to higher brain function. For example, a recent study at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, discovered that grade school children who took piano lessons for three years scored higher than their non-musical peers on tests of general and spatial cognitive development - the very faculties needed for performance in math, engineering and other pursuits.

I believe every student deserves the opportunity to develop a passion under the tutelage of a talented, knowledgable and enthusiastic teacher, who truly cares about the individual's progress. Private training should not only be technical but also fun and creative to best explore each student's full potential in music, math, or language arts. Private lessons allow for complete individual attention without the distractions and compromises of a classroom setting. Teachers are able then to design personalized lessons which cater to each student's unique learning pace and style preference to best encourage him/ her musically, academically and personally."

Update 2022: Still very happy with the school. We are doing a free lesson with our 3 year old to see if she can start lessons as well. Our older one's teacher is now Natalie which we are also very happy with. Still recommend. Been taking our child for a couple of years with a couple of teachers. We had a great experience so far. Our current teacher Nika is great, patient and very nice.
Out kid doesn't always want to go to class but she she makes the best of it. They are currently taking all the Covin precations for in-person classes but also offer Zoom type as well.

Great instructors, very organized front office, several rooms, lots of free parking. Free trial class. They have promotions ongoing or find someone who is already going there and ask for a referral discount. They teach many instruments. Would recommend trying out a couple different instructors to compare teaching styles and pick the one that suits your child the best. A bit if a drive for us but we feel it's worth it.

The Joe Ferrante Music Academy is a wonderful place to learn to sing or play an instrument. The academy has a number of teachers that teach a wide range of instruments to a wide range of talent levels. My kids have had a wonderful time learning to sing, play the violin, and play the piano, in addition to learning about music in general. The teachers are very patient with young children and have taken a genuine interest in them.
Maybe the best thing about The Ferrante Academy it allows its students to showcase their talents with recitals and performances four to five times a year. I highly recommend the Joe Ferrante Music Academy!
