Guitar Lessons
Report
Taylor Robinson Music guitar lessons are unique to any standard. We focuses on a working knowledge and a hands on approach rather than stagnate on the academic.

Our method is to focus on a new technique each lesson. To do this, the instructor first finds this technique used in the students favorite songs and then proceeds to teach the song instead of simply repeating the drill. We've found that this helps keep our students excited about learning, motivated to practice, and sticking with their instrument for life.

Owner
Taylor began playing guitar at age 10 with help from a family barber. By age 16 he was playing in local Dallas garage bands. Throughout high school, he continued to hone his skills as a singer, songwriter, and guitar player by forming and touring with the rock band, “Fallen From the Nest”. At this point, Taylor also started developing his craft as an engineer and producer by apprenticing under the renowned Hollywood producer Harvey Guerst (Bob Dylan, The Byrds, The Doors, Kenny Rogers, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin). Through his college years at North Texas University, he worked an engineer at Indian Trails Recording Studio in Denton, TX and Steven Arnold Studios in Allen, TX.

It was during this time that he began to tour internationally with the rock band “Fallen From the Nest” (Sony) where he co-wrote and released 3 albums. In 2003, between tours, Taylor began giving lessons with the hands on/ working knowledge approach he had acquired from his time on the road. His students appreciated this “From the Heart” teaching perspective and as his student base grew Taylor began to take on other pro musician instructors. Today, the Taylor Robinson Music Company employs over 900 contract instructors and has served over 25,000 lessons in 40 states. Currently, Taylor is looking forward to finishing his graduate MBA program in 2010. Meanwhile, the Taylor Robinson Music Company continues to be a leader in it's industry by offering quality, unique, and diverse music instruction guided by a true concern for every student.

Danielle is a professional opera singer with a masters in music. When she sees one approach is not working, she modifies it so that my daughter can grasp the methodology and theory. In fact, she even helped my daughter prepare for her singing role in last year's school's play. I don't know that I could have found a better teacher for my child. I am thrilled.

This “school†keeps contacting me even though I’ve never attended. I’ve already stated that in an email to them, but they persist.

I found Taylor Robinson online and after my initial call with the company, the one where I paid, the experience was terrible. The day after I paid, I received and email from my "account manager" saying to reach out to her if I needed anything. I told her about some information I requested, from the person who took my payment, that I still had not gotten.

I never heard back from her.ever. Then the lessons came. The instructor first told me he could not do the time that was promised. So, we agreed on a different time. I purchased 4 lessons. 2 of the lessons he was late (had to go eat) and one lesson he changed the time by a couple hours the day before the lesson. The lessons were "fly by night" as there was no books, paper, plans etc.

This isn't a huge deal, but when dealing with a young child its hard for them to remember what they are working on. With nothing to go off of, practicing was difficult. Once my package was used I reached back out to my "manager" via phone. No answer for a couple days, so I left a voicemail. My voicemail was responded to by email, by someone new and did not address any of my concerns.

I responded by saying I would be taking my business elsewhere due to poor customer service. I did not get a response to that email. Today I did receive an email and matching text, assuming it was automated, asking if I was ready to buy more lessons. The business model could work but it is not executed well and is a terrible customer experience. Do not waste your time with Taylor Robinson.

*update: I finally was refunded in full. Although in general this was not a pleasant experience, so it doesn't drastically impact my review/rating. * I used Taylor Robinson Music to find a guitar instructor for my 7 year old son. On August 5th I paid for the guitar instructor they recommended that would be able to come into my home to teach my son lessons on Thursday evenings.

After putting me in touch with the instructor, it turns out he does not do in home lessons nor was available Thursday evening or any other evenings that worked for our schedule. I promptly reached back out to Taylor Robinson Music to get paired with another instructor, and was told I'd hear back with new recommendations by the 12th, which they failed to do.

Only after I made a follow up call did I hear back from them on the 16th with one new recommendation for an instructor who's studio is over a half hour commute from my house. I contacted Taylor Robinson Music again to express my concerns with this pairing as I already paid extra for "in-home" lessons and to discuss options that might be closer if "in-home" was no longer available.

At this point Taylor Robinson Music completely ghosted me. They will not return my phones calls or emails nor refund the $300 I already paid! Do NOT book with Taylor Robinson Music! They are a complete scam and have terrible customer service as they clearly cannot deliver on a service I paid for, nor will take any measures to rectify the situation!

I was a new student trying to book my first lesson but also trying to understand how payment works as I've never had lessons. A man named Kevin Rowe got back to me and we chatted quite a bit. The issue started when Kevin didn't really delivered as much information I needed because it felt like I had to figure everything out by myself. Not only that, I have been trying to get in contact with him so that he can get in touch with my guardian who kept stressing me out as to why the Taylor Robinson doesn't give away locations.

He finally got back and said, "I just got back to my office. I was on vacation." Like, seriously? He didn't even bothered to apologize because I was so upset that he didn't respond to text messages. My guardian also tried to call the Taylor Robinson, but they didn't pick up. I ended up paying full amount online because I didn't know how the monthly payment works.

I told Kevin about the money issue and he was like, "You should've called me." I'm like "tf? I've been texting you and leaving you these voicemails but your b*tcha$$ didn't got back to me." Now I had to call customer service and they refunded me. Also, here's the cherry on top: I was now registered as an "existence student" when I literally have not even had my first lesson yet lol. Also, Mr. Kevin told me he wasn't "allowed" to help "existing" students because he could get in trouble.

He sounded annoyed at this point. I don't really understand how that works, nor do I fully understand the company's policies as well as Mr. Kevin Rowe's profession. Very unprofessional, highly disappointing, and overall, very frustrating experience. Screw you, Kevin Rowe!

I reach out to find a drum instructor and delt with Brandon Jones. Of course Brandon was great, and super responsive right up until the moment I paid for the lessons. A day after I paid, I got a text from the instructor saying he told TRM he wasn't taking any new students. I then text Brandon several times to help me find a new instructor and he completely ghosted me.

When I reached out to both customer service and corporate all I got was voicemail. Custom service did return my call and agreed to refund my money, which is the only thing keeping this from being a 1 star review.

(Charlotte location) I prepaid for a 4 class session. My instructor didn't show up. When I contacted the office. They stated that they would find a replacement and contact me. It's been a week and no one has contacted me nor have they answered any of my calls or text! This place scam me out of $144!

We had Gloria come out to teach guitar and violin and she did great! She was punctual and easy to communicate with. The company itself was a little hard to work with and hear back from in regards to finding new instructors but once I did they were very helpful.

I was an instructor and I wouldn't recommend anyone use this service. BEWARE OF THEIR PAYED FAKE REVIEWS. They charge people obscene amounts and offer instructors a fraction of the payment. I once asked them what was the total amount payed and I was told that "wasn't my place". Save yourself the money and create a personal agreement with the instructor. They are THIEFS

I would not recommend this company to anyone. If zero stars was an option that's what I would give them. After I had already signed up for a single lesson I got calls from three different people saying they saw I'd checked them out online and asked if I was interested in setting up an appointment. Then another person called and said my payment was not processed correctly and had to get my card information over the phone.

Two days before the lesson they called again to say the instructor was not accepting new students. I said I just wanted a refund and the customer service rep copied me on her sarcastic email requesting someone to refund my card.

I used this company about 2 years ago for drum lessons at home with very little problems, good teacher and good communication. This year, I tried to get my son a few drum lessons in the summer. What a MESS. communication was horrible, I was blown off 3 times in a row for the lessons and had to find someone else. I was given excuse after excuse. I dont know what happened to this business but hopefully they fix it.

TEN STARS! I was handed a Bass Guitar at 15 and I learned how to play songs but never any Music Theory just here's the song, go figure it out After playing in bands and 35 years of life, I decided to learn Music Theory and learn intermediate type Bass Guitar Taylor Robinson was the best decision I could have made! I noticed the sheet music has chords listed, even for bass so I told my teacher I want to learn to play chord progressions on my bass!

Lead guitarists memorize the chord progression to Solo over it so that's what I want and it's working! My teacher finds the excersises and drills I need as well as showing me the one on one the proper form and technique to play up and down the fretboard I having a blast and other musicians are asking to jam with me and recording it!

I bought one half hour lesson from TR just to try it out. I was looking for someone to help me out with my vocal range and help me find my singing style/identity. First, when I called to set up a lesson I was placed with a gentleman that I picked off of the website. They were very pushy for me to buy a package with a few lessons in it, and I would have given the person they set me with clicked with me.

Set my appointment for the first person for Thursday. Tuesday I get a call and played phone tag with TR for a full day before learning that person wasn't taking on new clients due to a schedule conflict. They kept trying to push another person on me but our styles are way different, she teaches soft rock, I am more of a R&B type, so I said no thank you.

Finally we decided another guy, I was told he would contact me to see if it was possible for them to keep the Thursday appointment because honestly I was excited to take this step in my life. Didn't hear anything until I called and left a message (Because they never answer their customer service number) and told them how unprofessional this interaction was starting to look.

Finally got ahold of Taylor that said the had been trying to contact me 4 times. Not mentioning that everytime they called, I was at work but tried to call back on every break. Anywho, so finally get the new instructor's information Friday. We set up a time to meet on Saturday by 4pm, I texted him around 12:30pm just to confirm we were still good and he confirmed we were.

I drove 30 minutes from my home, made it on time, to what looked like very sketchy apartments. The building is a secured building so I am standing outside, for 10 minutes, in the rain calling the instructor that is now not answering the phone. Long story short I called and disputed the charge from this company. There is a reason I only paid $35 because I wanted to make sure it was a legit business and thus far ladies and gentlemen it is not. Do not waste your money.

We were looking for a different guitar teacher for our daughter and found this company that offer a large range of instructors and so looked for what we needed and took a package deal with instructor roman. Our daughter likes his style of teaching and we see that just in a couple of lessons she already improving more that with the other teacher that she had for few years prior, so for us great company.

Do NOT waste your money or time with these jerks. They hire cookie cutter vocal coaches or really, really terrible coaches who know nothing about the voice and how to expand its range. I had one coach who actually suggested I look up songs by MICHAEL JACKSON. I am a female singer whose genre is hard rock. He went off camera a few times besies. They refused to refund and instead gave me coach after coach.

In the end, when I insisted because I was not getting what I paid for, the guy on the phone was inflammatory, condescending and outright RUDE. Seriously, just look up coaches in your area.there are a TON. Ask for what you need up front and NEVER buy a package deal, especially from TR. Sickening to know they enjoy ripping people off.

STAY AWAY! This company is a scam. They are not a local company with local connections of qualified music teachers. They take your money, then set you up with un-qualified teachers, and then refuse to give a refund.

I started singing lessons with my teacher Ruth Amy four years ago. She is literally the sweetest person I've ever met. She has a golden voice that can sing many different kinds of music. She has been a teacher most of her life. I love the way she teaches. It's effective and brilliant. She's always understanding and she always has a smile on her face. I am blessed to have her.

If you are seeking lessons for yourself or for your child, I urge you to think twice before signing up for lessons with this company (or any other online music lesson business that contracts out music instructors for that matter). They do not require a face-to-face interview with their instructors; rather they opt for a phone interview. This means that they do not in any way take the time to assess the musical skills or teaching skills of their instructors.

Any legitimate school or business will always take the time to personally meet any potential instructors, and will most certainly require that they audition for the job. The quality of an instructor you will get from a business such as this will surely be a gamble. Take the time to seek out a legitimate instructor in your community that you can meet face to face with, or find an accredited school to attend. It will be well worth the extra work in the end.

Horrible! This company sent aggressive sales calls and emails and voicemails twice daily, the receptionist set me up with a coach that did not meet the needs I requested and I learned later that she set me up with her husband, who was undereducated for a coach and told me that women only have a head - voice and that's all they sing with(incorrect), and the lesson prices were extremely unreasonable, especially for the poor quality of the coaching I received.

They say lessons are only $45 per hour, but that is if you purchase a certain number of lessons and pay for them all up front - otherwise they are $60-$80 depending on the coach! I found a reputable coach elsewhere that really coaches! You don't have to go through a company like this to receive excellent quality coaching at a reasonable price - don't let them fool you!

I just wanted to let you know that Layne loves the new instructor. I don't have his email, so could you please forward this to him. Our past dude was GREAT, but unreliable and Layne thought no one could match up to him. It takes a lot to impress my kiddo that much.
Thanks,

This has been an amazing experience to find a teacher who knows what he is doing and who really cares about music. Thank you for listening to what I was saying and bringing a teacher who was right for me. I want to set up another appointment as soon as possible. Left a message and I am waiting for a call back so I can schedule it...Again Thank You...

Just wanted to let you guys know that I had a very good experience with Stephen. I was having a blockage and was not making progress. He was able to diagnose the issue and set me back on the path. Sometimes in teaching yourself you just need a little help.

I want to tell you that Sherman is perhaps the best instructor I've had the privilege of working with. He's sharp and understands what I'm trying to do. He's provided me with challenges to work through and improve which were lacking in my previous efforts to learn to play guitar. Thanks for your recommendation and setting me up with such a fine musician and instructor.

Approximately 9 months ago, I picked up a flyer in a local guitar store and very nervously dialed the number. The number on the flyer was for a guitar instructor who offered lessons to learn to play from the heart. I wasn't sure what that meant, and I've never been musically inclined, but it sounded like fun and I was ready to try something new. At that time, I didn't even own a guitar, so I borrowed one from a friend for my first lesson.

At that lesson I met a young man, Taylor Robinson, who taught me enough basics that within the hour to strum along with Bryan Adams. Taylor made it simple to understand and fun to play. Since that first meeting, we've had about 15 lessons, I now own 6 guitars, I can play along with a ton of songs, my 13-year-old daughter has started to play along with me and actually purchased her own guitar last month, and I can't wait to pull songs together and head off to my next lesson with Taylor .

9 months ago, I had no idea what Taylor's flyer meant when it said "play from the heart" I'm starting to get the idea, and it's a blast!!! Taylor's method of instruction is simple to learn and easy to apply.

He also has a website that makes it easy to stay connected. I would definitely recommend Taylor and Taylor Robinson Music to anyone who wants to learn to play or to improve their current playing level.

David and I just wanted to express our sincere gratitude and excitement about Sarah's progress with your lessons. Important to us as parents, you have been reliable, knowledgeable and flexible enough to allow Sarah to develop her musical skills during private lessons. Your enthusiasm is contagious and actually bringing her into the recording studio brought her to a new level of commitment.

Add to this the unparalleled opportunity of performing on-stage with accomplished, professional musicians, and this has been an amazing 18 months!

Compared to the two years that our son, Chris spent with a different guitar instructor, it was definitely less successful. He's looking forward to coming home from college during the break, and continuing his lessons with you instead. Thank you again for your professionalism and for making Sarah feel that all of the hard work is fun!

I would like to say that I just started taking lessons from Steve and he has done a great job in my case. It took a lot of time to find out which instructor would be the best fit both for me as a person and for the type of music that I would like to learn to play. I am in my 40's and starting something new at this age is frustrating, but Steve expresses interest in you as a person and as a player which has made it very easy. In my first four lessons I can actually play a couple of songs that he has taught me. I would recommend him to everyone, no matter your age.
