I provide music and motion classes for young children in Jefferson City, Missouri, and the surrounding areas. Classes begin with babies, and continue through beginning piano classes, using the world-class Musikgarten curriculum. I also offer accelerated piano classes, and private lessons for piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, drums, and more!. There is music FUN for Everyone!
By considering music education for your child at an early age, you have taken a first step toward improving your child's natural musical potential and enriching your family life with active music-making.
While joyfully singing, moving, listening, and playing simple natural instruments, children develop a strong musical foundation in pitch recognition, steady beat, rhythm patterns, and music repertoire.
As you familiarize yourself with my class offerings and learn more about Musikgarten, I will be glad to answer your questions and welcoming your family into my music studio.
Musikgarten is the only program that offers curricula for newborns through group piano instruction. It is based on a keen understanding of how children learn, in both a general sense and, specifically, how they learn music. I have a 9-year plan for your child, so let's start now!

From babies through adults, you'll find music fun for everyone at Jefferson City Music Academy! Have you or your child always wanted to learn to play an instrument? Get better at singing? We can help with that! With teachers for everything from piano voice, and violin, to ukulele, guitar, and drums, we'll guide you on your journey to musical excellence!
You will almost always learn to play at least one song your first or second lesson. However, keep in mind that music instruction is a long process. Professional musicians take lessons and practice for YEARS to get proficient at their instrument. Also, we recommend getting the best instrument you can afford.
What could be more special than the bond between parent and baby as they rock and dance to their special music? Watch as your baby starts to respond as soon as she hears "that song" playing! Tap the beat on his back, tap on their rhythm sticks, play peek-a-boo with the scarf - all part of our Family Music for Babies class!

My daughter loves Jefferson city music academy! Her guitar teacher (Mr. Dave) is the best. He plays the guitar with her the entire lesson. Helping her hear the rhythm and tempo helps her a lot. He let's her learn songs she is interested in and that helps her stay motivated and not lose interest. She has been doing guitar for 2 1/2 years and never once wanted to quit.
She doesn't always get the practice time she needs. Her instructor never punishes her. They just practice more during the lesson. It is a low pressure/stress kind of environment. That is so important because I dont want her to dread lessons. The academy is very flexible with scheduling make up lessons. My daughter loves guitar and Jefferson City Music Academy!

Specific reason for 1 star review. I was not made aware of the financial policy that you must cancel future lessons no less than the 15th of the month before, and thus, I was charged an extra month of unused lessons for 2 kids. This added up to $184. It was established in my conversations with the owner that I had not been specifically made aware of the policy, but a refund was absolutely out of the question for the owner.
I notified the owner on November 1st that we would not be attending in November. The first lesson of the month would have been November 3rd, so it was before this. This reeks of a policy that a company has, if they expect to NOT have repeat customers. I would have been a repeat customer, but will not due to the financial experience. I feel ripped off.

I wanted to play guitar since I was a teenager... 40 years ago. So at the age of 61 I started lessons with my brand new no-name guitar I ordered from Amazon.
Yep, it was mostly kids, but that didn't really matter, because I could learn as much as I wanted, as fast or slow as I wanted.
They have excellent instructors (Dave Jordan was my guitar teacher) and we covered an extraordinary mix of technique, practical application, and music theory. I started from scratch and learned a lot, but more importantly, I learned how to find the resources I needed to learn more.
Also, when I first started, I had a conflict with another on-going appointment, and they worked with me so I could fit everything into my schedule.
In April I was confident enough to play in their music recital, which would have normally been way outside my comfort zone. I played a simplified version of one of my all-time favorite songs ("Ghost Riders In The Sky") that Dave helped me put together and fine tune the timing on. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I recommend JC Music Academy for kids, but I recommend them for adults, too. It's not only fun, but you can take that instrument you've been promising yourself you'd pick up "some day," and actually learn how to play it.
