I offer regular chances for my students to take part at concerts, recitals, and less formal occasions where they can gain self-confidence through musical expression. I provide a no-obligation first interview/consultation at which we'll go over my policies and expectations, I'll answer any questions you may have, and I'll listen to the student sing or play. If you have a prepared song, that's great, but just a verse of something like a hymn or patriotic song will do just fine also. For voice students, we'll also define your vocal range and talk over initial singing goals.

Services
Bel Canto is Italian for "beautiful singing." Live music at your wedding ceremony can touch the hearts of your family and friends in such a way that pre-recorded music can never do, and adds an element of elegance to your special day. For this, I will sing up to three songs at your wedding ceremony and rehearse with the organist or other musicians for up to 30 minutes beforehand.

My full name is Heather McGlaughlin Batey. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Harding University and a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Mississippi.
I've been teaching for almost 14 years in both the private studio and the public school classroom. I also hold a K-12 teaching license in both vocal and instrumental music education.

Heather is so much more to my family than a music Instructor. While training my two sons, she has become an extension of our own family. She is a brilliant, gifted, and talented artist. As an Educator, she really shines in encouraging her students, both young and old, to develop a lifelong love of music. Heather is such an incredible teacher. She has a beautiful voice and an extensive knowledge of music and singing. She is very positive and encouraging. My daughter enjoys her lessons. My daughter has made great strides as a singer since beginning to take vocal lessons from Heather. Heather brings a lot of talent and experience to her lessons. I've been taking lessons from Heather since 2011.I began taking lessons to learn breathe and overcome my asthma issues. I was a very shallow singer with very poor breath control. Now as a friend recently advised I could peel paint off the walls with my volume. Volume is great ,but this year I'm working towards control and using my voice to convey a beautiful tone. Heather's taught me to use my voice to share my music. It's been a joy learn from her.
