Mary L Payne is a teacher of clarinet, saxophone and flute. As an adjunct faculty lecturer in clarinet at Lewis University in Romeoville, IL, she has woodwind studios in Romeoville & Wheaton, IL. With more than twenty-five years of applied teaching experience, she has also taught applied winds at Joliet Junior College, Joliet, IL and in area public schools. She has served as adjudicator and clinician for area music festivals. Her students perform in area youth symphonies and receive high ratings at music contests.
Ms. Payne is principal clarinet with the New Philharmonic, Glen Ellyn, IL and performs with the Lewis University Faculty Woodwind Quintet. She has been a featured guest soloist with New Philharmonic, the Fox Valley Symphony and the Wheaton Municipal Band, where she served as principal clarinet.
Ms. Payne has clarinet performance degrees: a Master of Music degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN and a Bachelor of Music degree, cum laude, from Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music, Cleveland, OH. Her teachers have involved Dr. Alan P. Squire, Henry Gulick, Robert Marcellus, J. Lawrie Bloom, Roger Berklund and Deidre McGuire.
Ms. Payne is a member of the International Clarinet Association and National Association of College Wind and Percussion. She is listed in Who's Who in American Women.
