To walk in to Celia’s music studio you must pass by her flower garden - it’s rich in color and variety-it’s lush and vibrant-it’s inviting! The results of her care and attention and knowledge are evident -and those qualities are present in her teaching as well. Celia has a keen ability to identify where you’re at and to customize your lesson accordingly. I always leave my lesson feeling like I’ve gained another tool to work with and that it’s possible to improve. Feeling so lucky to have the chance to learn from her!

I’m really enjoying my lessons with Celia. I’ve always loved singing, but not had any training - at least since 7th grade choir! I didn’t really know what could be improved, but the description of her approach on her website was so logical and encouraging that I was hopeful. Celia immediately identified the places I knew my voice broke & helped me understand why - what was going on with the vocal chords - and has been working with my voice, adjusting lesson by lesson, with techniques that are working, and also fun.

I have very little experience singing in front of people, but Celia put me at ease; there’s lots of laughing during lessons. She’s fun to sing with - she looks up songs I like & can accompany on the piano & guide my voice easily, even songs she’s not familiar with. Also - I have a voice box/larynx injury & she has training that has enabled her to address that directly with techniques that are actually therapeutic.

Celia Miller is a great teacher, generous soul, and a real community builder. Rock on.

I started with Celia a few years ago when I began singing with a choral group and realized my voice had kind of gone underground for a few decades! That led to solo singing; somewhere along the way I decided to join a band, playing keys and singing a few songs with them. Joined a choir, too. and then, once I realized being on stage wasn't terrifying, I joined an acting group.

The point is, Celia's methods will take you places you never thought you would go, maybe never knew you wanted to go. I am certainly not the student who has gone the furthest with her training, but I might be the oldest!!!...….and our band just kicked butt at one of the local fairs, something that was NEVER on my radar screen at all, and I would have rolled over laughing at the suggestion a few years ago. Give her a try!!! I always leave my lessons full of confidence.

I've been studying with Celia for the past year and three months, and my confidence in performing and growing as a musician have skyrocketed. Her student showcases with full bands provide a fantastic and unique experience to put my lessons before an audience of friends and fellow singers. She is a wonderful teacher and highly recommended for anyone looking to grow as a singer and a musician.

Celia Miller has changed my life. Two summers ago I decided to take voice lessons from Celia on a whim--before that I had never sung in public. With carefully crafted exercises and lots of patience, Celia helped me to find and develop my voice. Her seasonal singers' showcase cafes and concerts motivated me to improve my technique and get beyond my nervousness about performing. Singing for the first time with a real band was an exhilarating experience!!

Over the course of a year I went from being super self-conscious about my voice to LOVING to sing for an audience. This summer, when I started writing my own songs for piano and voice, Celia continued to be an outstanding teacher for me-- teaching me about chords and basic music theory, suggesting books and giving me tips on technique and the conventions of songwriting. Singing and music have become driving passions in my life, and I would never have discovered how much I love them without Celia.

She has been so supportive, attentive, kind and encouraging, all while pushing me forward and giving me constructive criticism in ways that help me improve. I couldn't really recommend Celia any more highly as a voice and music teacher!

I went in scared as hell to sing in front of someone. Celia was understanding, supportive, and she made it fun right from the start. She recognized qualities of my voice that I had not thought were there and helped me develop them in ways that have continued to support that growth. The lessons are fun and amazing. I feel so well-supported as I continue to explore and discover what I can do with my voice, and I'm gaining confidence a lot! Do it!! She's great!!

Celia is a versatile, creative, and compassionate teacher who has worked with my daughter for more than four years. She has a broad range of experience and expertise in both the music world and pedagogy. Celia respects and guides her students goals and aspirations. The results of her teaching are both admirable and effective. I have myself been Her student, and I would recommend no music and voice teacher as her equal.

I sang in high school and college but always in ways that didn’t feel totally authentic to who I was. Working with Celia has allowed me to look for and sometimes find the soul of my voice. She is fun and encouraging and has interesting ways to break through vocally. I highly recommend Celia if you want to practice music and sing from your heart.

I’ve had three lessons with Celia so far and I have nothing but good things to say! She is sweet and very knowledgeable. She was quick to pinpoint what I needed to work on and is helping me through it.

Celia is wicked good at what she does. She teaches technique. She troubleshoots. She keeps you on your toes. She inspires and encourages and by the end of the lesson you will realize you’ve worked harder than you expected, and made some great strides. Voice teacher doesn’t quite cover all that she does.
She’ll help you with timing if you need that.

If you look at a guitar twice she might put it in your hands and teach you some basics. Same with a piano. If you’re writing songs, she can deliver some really, really good suggestions, and work it with you til that song tells the story just as you hear it in your head. Same thing if you are recording or preparing for a live show. And you WILL have the opportunity to do live shows with a great band.
Celia builds community.

You will have plenty of opportunities to meet fellow students, and you will probably make some friends for life. If you find a baby bird that fell out the nest, bring it in.
Celia will teach it to fly.
