What Do You Learn In Your Lessons?
That question is often asked by prospective students. Our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals.

We do not treat every student the same in terms of what and how we teach. A seven year old having their first guitar lesson will have very different needs than a fifty seven year old taking up piano for the 2nd time after having had lessons as a child.

The main reason to choose our Academy is that we are sensitive to the fact that every student is an individual. If you enroll here for lessons, we will work with you to make a plan that will fit your needs and preferences. At the first lesson your teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music, and set goals to help accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child.
The Lexington School of Music is a part of the largest music school in the state of South Carolina with an active enrollment of over 1,500 students. Students drive from as far away as Charleston and the Upstate of South Carolina to take lessons here and at our Irmo and Columbia locations. We offer lessons for ages 4 to adult.
Lexington's guitar instructors teach rock, blues, metal, country and classical styles on both electric and acoustic guitars. Whether you aspire to play Bach or Alicia Keys, Lexington School of Music's dedicated piano instructors will help you become the pianist you want to be. If you've always wanted to hone your skills as a rock, pop, country, jazz, gospel or R&B singer, Lexington School of Music has the voice teacher for you. At the Lexington School of Music, every state-of-the-art drum lesson room is equipped with Roland drum kits for our students.
Sign up is easy and parent-friendly, with helpful staff at the front desk seven days a week to serve you. Because we only offer lessons on a month-to-month basis, there are no large upfront payments, no complicated contracts, no annual material or performance fees, and no semester minimums. We'll never share your information.
Tyler Mack first experience at the Academy was great. He has an excellent Drum Teacher and the staff there is very helpful. I would recommend anyone and everyone to experience the musical talent at the Columbia Arts Academy. Columbia Arts Academy is a wonderful place to learn how to play an instrument.

Excellent instruction. Emily has been teaching our daughter electric guitar since June of 2019. We have seen quite a bit of progress in that time, and the lessons seem to be the bright spot during the pandemic.

Though I am older adult who wanted to finally learn guitar, the staff has been so nice, professional and accommodating. It is a slow and hard process but my instructor has been so patient and understanding. And, I am learning so much!

Since first starting lessons I have been impressed by the consistent outstanding service. Even after COVID restricted everyone, lessons simply went online and didn’t miss a beat.

My children and I love Lexington School of Music. The staff and teachers are very friendly and knowledgeable. My youngest daughter has been taking piano and voice lessons for 8 years now, she started at their Rosewood location. And now my granddaughter is taking piano lessons. I would highly recommend any one of their music studios.

My daughter takes voice lessons with Ms. Megan. She is friendly, super talented and encouraging! My girl loves every bit of it and enjoys classes with her. The front desk staffs are warm, welcoming and glad to help. It's only my initial months here, but we feel very safe and comfortable sending my daughter to this music school. We are going to go a long way with Lexington School Of Music!

My children have been attending Lexington School of Music for over 3 years now and they still LOVE it! The teachers are so energetic and fun. They feel like part of the family. The kids look forward to lessons all week and practice without any prodding from me. They are learning songs that they choose and are excited about. The recitals are held twice a year and are actually fun (and painless!).

They run in hour increments so you only sit through 20 or so students instead of 200. It's brilliant! We love taking music lessons here and will continue to do so for many years to come.

My teacher is an excellent instructor! I am continually amazed by the level of expertise and versatility he demonstrates with the guitar. I have been playing for 11 years and he is able to develop lessons that challenge and encourage me to grow in my playing and performance. My teacher is able to quickly and effectively teach difficult material in a way that students can easily understand. This is a rare gift in any field. I enthusiastically recommend the Columbia Arts Academy.

I may well be chronologically the oldest student at the academy and I must say I am really enjoying being a part of it. I've taken lessons in classical guitar off and on (mostly off) over the years and only since retiring from State employment have I been able to devote the time to music I would like and have made great strides under my teacher's patient instruction.

"My teacher makes learning so much fun. He knows all genres of music. He can go from classical to hard rock in the blink of an eye. If you're looking for the best teachers the Columbia Arts Academy is the place for you."

"The Columbia Arts Academy laid a perfect path for me to advance in my music career. My teacher had an amazing talent of teaching me all the basics while keeping the lessons very entertaining. The Columbia Arts Academy is full of insightful teachers who are talented not just with music but also at inspiring and captivating their students. If one wants to learn seriously or play as an amateur there is no better place to go."

The Academy is a great place for the adult, who never had the time, patience, or attention span, as a child to learn to play an instrument. The Academy fosters a love for music and is a great place for an adult, to take the plunge and do something that they have only talked about for years. The instruction is excellent! The instructors are patient!

Every adult that I know has nothing but great things to say about the experience they have with learning to play an instrument. If you have told everyone for years, that someday you were going to sing, play the guitar, piano etc... this is the place for you to finally do it!

"From the first day our children became students at the Columbia Arts Academy, we've been extremely impressed with the professionalism and dedication of all of the instructors. Both of our children have made great strides one on bass guitar and one in voice. Their lessons have allowed them to meet other kids with similar musical interests and they've been able to start their own rock band.

With the help of the Columbia Arts Academy, they have played at the Rosewood Crawfish Festival, Vista Lights, and 5-Points St. Patty's Day celebration. We are truly fortunate to have found a music school that is so encouraging and that our children LOVE!"

My three children wanted to play different instruments and there are so many instructors at the Columbia Arts Academy, it was very easy for us to choose a time and date to fit our busy schedule. The teachers have always been very positive and encouraging to all of my children, which is very important to me.
