My name is Elaine Bovender and I am a piano teacher from Wilmington, North Carolina. I teach private lessons for ages 6 through adult in my home studio. Located off of Carolina Beach Road and convenient to the Monkey Junction, Silver Lake, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach areas. I teach all ages with emphasis on note reading/identification, theory, rhythm, technique, improvisation, and ear training. 30 minute lessons available for children younger than 6 years old or with shorter attention spans. An acoustic piano (preferably) or a digital piano with 88 weighted keys and a sustaining pedal is required for home practice. If you have a smaller electric keyboard, you may begin lessons but will be expected to upgrade to an acoustic piano within a few months. I will be happy to help you locate a suitable piano.

You will be provided with a paper copy at our first consultation that you may sign and return to me. Tuition payments are a flat rate, regardless of a four or five week month. Payments for the entire month are due during the first week of every month unless prior arrangements have been made. If payment is made the second week of the month it will be considered late and will incur a late fee of $15.00 in addition to the regular lesson rate. I will not teach more than two lessons without payment. 60 minute lesson - $150.00 per month for two beginning students near the same age.

This video is a reminder of the black key groupings that we learned about during the first few lessons. We will learn about time values of the notes, timing and more. This is a wonderful review for students who have been taking lessons for a while, as well as early beginners.

I have loved music and the piano all of my life. I began my piano study as a young child and continued well into adulthood. I've played the piano and organ professionally and taught for more than 35 years. Presently, I'm the pianist and music director for Kure Beach First Baptist Church and I serve as keyboardist for southern gospel group, Eddie Reynolds Trio. BS in Music Ministry.
