Irish Music teacher David Agee grew up in Overland Park, KS and got his first guitar at age ten. David was a member of Kansas City's first Irish band, 'Talisman' in 1980 which featured Gerald Trimble. After Talisman, David was one of the founding members of Scartaglen along with Mike Dugger and Roger Landes. The group grew to include many musicians such as Dave Brown, Frank Martin, Matt Kirby, Connie Dover and Kathy Agee.

The lessons I've been taking from David on mandolin, tenor banjo, and the fiddle have been life changing for me and has led me to a much better place in my life not just the music or the variety of instruments he both teaches and plays effortlessly, or his patience even when i'm screeching through fiddle tunes, or simply his knowledge and library of all the music you can ever listen to ...
To me he is not only a great teacher this guy has done so much for me as a friend. If you are looking for a kind patient knowledgeable talented music teacher he's right here. David will help guide you to the place where your music feels like home.

We were very lucky to have found Dave to teach our then 7 yr old daughter how to play the fiddle. His teaching style was a perfect match for our daughter and he was able to keep her motivated to play and improve for the next six years before we moved out of state. Not only is Dave an immensely talented musician, whose ability crosses many musical genres, he is also very involved in the local music scene, which gave our daughter many opportunities to play and perform with other local musicians. Dave helped kindle a love for all music in our daughter and all these years later she still can't resist the temptation to pick up the nearest instrument and play a tune.

You want to study with David. He has the unique capacity to break down a tune and make it accessible to your ears and to your fingers. With a broad appreciation of regional styles and their variations, he can show you the ways to make the tune your own on many different instruments. Every part of David's instruction is focused on musicality: whether it is physically warming up, or standing or breathing, or small changes in technique, or adaptations to ensemble play or connecting your playing to the world of ideas, David is your guide. Whether hopeless beginner or accomplished talent, studying with David will make you a confident and expressive musician. What could be better than that?
