Report
We are committed to bringing the best in music instruction and service to you right here in Northern Oakland County. From traditional classical lessons to a more tailored contemporary approach, we match learning to the needs of the individual. This approach enables the student to be more successful, getting the most out of music.
Music lessons should be fun and rewarding, that is why at Oxford School of Music, our staff will work with you to tailor an approach that is right for you. We can take a very traditional approach or one that is more low key according to your specific needs. Pre-school group programs are ideal for young children wishing to get early exposure to music.
In partnership with the Oxford Virtual Academy we are offering beginning music classes in Guitar and Piano. Students will learn the basics of music theory and note reading, plus proper guitar techniques and skills. We will cover all styles, including rock, pop, folk, blues and classical. Upon successful completion you will be proficient in first position melody playing, chords, rhythm and leads. For experienced students who have successfully completed level 1A or can demonstrate the basic skills of note reading, picking and strumming.
This exciting program was created with the musician in mind who is looking for an opportunity to use their skills in a practical and fun way. Being in a real band is sometimes an impossible task (just ask Pink Floyd). We take the drama out of being in a band by assigning a professional instructor to oversee the production.

Amazing, kind and helpful staff! instructors have very flexible schedules and are always willing to reschedule if needed. i take bass guitar lessons and i have never once had a problem, and my instructor is amazing and very helpful. Staff is very knowledgeable of guitars, pianos, etc. and always know how to help. i highly recommend this place for music lessons of almost any instrument, or buying a high quality instrument for yourself or someone else.

I met Matthew a couple weeks ago. I walked in with two guitars for him to restring for me. I stated that I knew how to restring the guitars myself, but I was in the middle of moving and then leaving town on business so I did not have the time. I did not check them when I picked them up since he verbally affirmed they were freshly tuned and ready to go.
I trusted him. When I opened my acoustic case at home that night, the bottom E string's bridge pin was half pulled out and the bottom 3 strings had SEVEN COILS around the tuning pegs! But the worst of it was the new nasty scratch in the headstock near the B string. I called IMMEDIATELY and left a message stating my problem, but reiterated I would be out of town and unable to come in right away.
I got back home and called today to discuss the problem and he actually hung up on me! I called back and he said, "that was there when you brought it in, I remember pointing it out to you, " which was a BOLD-FACED LIE. I own and care for many guitars and the Alvarez fd60 he scratched was my daily player. Good grief, if the scratch was already there I would not waste my time calling him. Matthew knows he scratched it.
He then told me it was my "own fault I didn't bring it back to him right away.?!" WOW! I didn't hesitate to tell him what I thought at that point. But I hope I can help other musicians with this honest review. Save your money and headaches and DO NOT TRUST THIS SHADY BUSINESSMAN and NOVICE GUITAR TECH
