Piano Lessons with Christine

My name is Christine Corbett and I have been playing the piano for the last 32 years. I started private lessons under Barbara Jurkescheit in Columbia, Maryland when I was 11 years old and continued all the way through college. While in high school, I sang in my high school concert choir and beautyshop chorus, and also played piano accompaniment for the church choir at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fulton, Maryland. I overcame my shyness and learned to be (or at least look...) confident in front of lots of people!

In college, I sang with the Columbia Pro Cantare (a professional choir out of Columbia, MD) and then with the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Concert Choir. I played the piano for personal enjoyment until I was pregant with my second son. In 2002, I began playing all worship service music for Remington Methodist Church in Remington, Virginia and also began giving piano lessons. For a few years, I taught piano lessons for Drum & Strum Music Center in Warrenton, VA and then I gave piano lessons out of my home.

Since 2012, I have finished graduate level coursework from UVA-Wise in Education. I am currently a full-time teacher at Fauquier High School (classes taught include Child Development, Nutrition & Wellness and Intro to Culinary Arts) and teach piano lessons part-time. Music is my passion and has carried me through some very uplifting and very difficult times in life. I hope to pass this amazing gift on to anyone who wants to learn!
