Piano Lessons
Report
Our piano teachers are consummate musicians, comfortable teaching very young children through professional musicians polishing repertoire. Whether a four year old taking their first lesson, a retiree returning to the instrument after a long separation, and everyone in between, our teachers will share their expertise and love of music and lay the foundation so that students may explore any type of music they desire.

Meet The Director.
When I was in the eighth grade I played Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 for the first time in my neighborhood middle school youth orchestra, and I felt an absolute thrill throughout my entire being. I went home and put on a record of the symphony (yes, I’m old enough for records) and just kept playing my part with the orchestra over and over. It was a very different feeling than I’d ever had practicing scales, etudes, and vibrato alone in my room! All of a sudden, it all made sense to me. I didn’t know it then, but that was it. My fate was sealed. I became a professional musician and have never looked back.
I also love to teach. I love to draw music out of my students — even really young students — we play duets and experiment with different ways to interpret them. I try to create a sense of fun and experimentation as well as cracking the whip with fundamentals.
A few years ago, 4 of my students were auditioning for All-State — they all had to play the same piece. Even though I teach each student differently, I still taught them all the same musical gestures appropriate for that piece, and I secretly worried that they all might sound the same. I had a pianist come in to accompany them so they understood the harmony — the context of the all notes they’d learned. In spite of my concerns, they all sounded completely different! Their unique voices — who they were as individuals — shone through. Everyone brings the black dots on the page to life in different ways. That’s my favorite part.

I highly recommend Wilton Music Studios! Scheduling of lessons couldn't have easier and Peter has been incredibly flexible about accommodating my work schedule. He has an amazing teaching style and readily adapts his teaching plan to work on whatever problem I may be having. As an adult, I am impressed with Peter's ability to steer me away from being self critical and help me focus on the joy of music

Lisa Arkis, Director of the Wilton Music Studios has created something very special. The instruction is not only amazing but customized to fit the needs of each person. I've learned that great instructors who really love music, love teaching, inspire others and are willing to evaluate each student to figure out what is best for that student are superior. These are the kind of teachers at the Wilton Music Studios provides and they are hard to find anywhere. Hats off to Lisa and her team for finding them!

We consider ourselves very fortunate to have become involved with Wilton Music Studios. Lisa is a gifted musician and an extraordinary teacher. Her work with my daughter has been tremendous. Lisa has encouraged her to strive to reach her full potential and has also given her much confidence as a performer. Lisa is deeply committed to and passionate about her work, and she has been an important teacher and mentor to my daughter.
The facilities at Wilton Music Studios are spacious and welcoming. Lisa has assembled a terrific group of teachers, and she has successfully created an enthusiastic musical community of students, parents, and teachers. I recommend her, and Wilton Music Studios, without reservation.

Not only is Lisa a great flutist she is also a great teacher with a genuine passion both for music and teaching. I have had Lisa as my flute teacher for two years, ever since she took over Wilton Music Studios (which also underwent a top to bottom renovation). Lisa is very knowledgeable, patient, encouraging and has a unique way to approach (my) musical difficulties from different directions. I can highly recommend her for beginners as well as advanced students.

I am recently retired and a new piano student.fulfilling a life long desire to explore the world of music. Where to begin, who to talk with, should I have someone come to the home, would a studio really work for me, could I really start at square one as a beginner at anything at this stage in my life. These were all relevant questions. I had an initial discussion with Lisa, owner of Wilton Music Studios, who listened carefully to what I was looking for and quickly grasped that a key to success would be flexibility to adapt to my interests and learning style.
She encouraged me to consider and talk with her instructors directly. Enter my instructor, Edmund Arkus, who took me on as a student. Edmund's credentials are exceptional and to listen to him play is inspirational. But what I have been so pleased by is the way he has worked with me. Our lessons are highly interactive, with the foundational elements you would expect integrated into a program that allows me to explore and play the music I love.
His willingness and ability to move across different genres of music and teaching techniques to find what works best for me has turned out to be the perfect mix to build momentum and entusiasm. The journey is far from over.but 9 months later and thanks to Edmund, it has exceeded my expectations. For any adult looking to fulfill or rekindle a long abandoned passion for piano, I suggest a call to Lisa and Edmund as a first step.

Lisa Arkis is an excellent and nurturing flute teacher. Not just for teaching technique and tone, but also for boosting the student’s self-confidence and teaching self-relaxation. She pushes her students but without overwhelming them and stressing them out. The most important thing is for her students to do their best and enjoy themselves—that’s how she gets them to improve and love playing the flute. She’s a very dedicated, patient, and selfless teacher.
