Brooklyn Youth Chorus offers world-class voice training for young people, grades 2-12, with an emphasis on healthy vocal development, music literacy, and group performance. The Chorus also features multiple performing ensembles, known for delivering professional-level performances in a wide variety of settings, from concert halls to professional recording studios.
At Brooklyn Youth Chorus, when we train singers, we nurture their voices and ambitions. Singing with a group exposes young people to what's possible - in music, their future careers, and in their community. They begin to understand that they belong in all spaces, that their voices matter. We consider a young voice a resource that needs care, encouragement and time to blossom. The old-fashioned notion of learning by doing is alive here, paired with a modern, healthy approach so our singers can develop and thrive.
Offering students an opportunity to perform is an integral part of training at Brooklyn Youth Chorus. Not only does it serve as a demonstration of their knowledge, it also helps students set goals and gives them a sense of ownership. When choristers have a chance to perform, they gain experience singing in front of others and learn what it means to achieve as a team.
