Founders Ted and Betty Meyer were both educators in Kansas City area schools and opened Meyer Music to supplement their income. Generations later, the Meyer Music name is synonomous with childhood music education and band and orchestra instruments in Kansas City.Meyer Music and Fox 4 News, along with countless others, came together to create Band of Angels. Band of Angels is a 501c3 Charity that collects music instruments and provides them to children in need for free so they can join band and orchestra programs.

My kids have been with Meyer Music for almost 4 years now. They are very professional, efficient, and always try to accommodate our scheduling needs. From one Meyer Music branch to another, we decided to follow our piano teacher, even if we had to drive 40 minutes for a piano lesson. Ms. Virginia is an excellent piano teacher. She definitely knows her craft.
Her teaching style is exactly what we wanted. calm and supportive, but always making sure that the kids are challenged enough to reach their potential. We are happy with Meyer Music and have been and will be recommending them to friends who want their children to learn from the best.

My 6-year-old son has been taking piano lessons for 2 months now and I have been VERY pleased with Meyer Music in general and his teacher. Everyone is very knowledgeable and always helpful. My son has learned so much in the short amount of time he's been taking lessons, and his teacher has been so patient and good with him as a 6-year-old is not always super focused! Would highly recommend Meyer Music and Ms. Jessy!

Meyer Music is an enormous help to me as a piano teacher. I have been using the store as my main resource of instructional materials for all of my students for the past 23 years now. The staff is knowledgeable and there is a huge selection of books. All three of my children rented band instruments from them and we have purchased these instruments as well.

We had promised our son a new digital piano when we moved into the KC area, since it wasn't feasible to move his old, heavy upright piano across several states. We'd visited 3 other KC- area music stores and they had very limited selection and, quite frankly, poor service. The MOMENT we stepped into Meyer music, we were greeted and assisted. Linda encouraged my son to try EVERY piano and didn't try to push us to a more expensive model, though one or two were available; she was so encouraging and kind. Great experience; and our piano is being delivered today, the day after we bought it!

Our two girls, now aged eight and 10 started taking piano lessons at Meyer music when they were five and seven. We found that every instructor we interacted with was terrific. The girls enjoyed learning how to read music and play piano so much so that we purchased a keyboard that the kids continue to enjoy today. The staff is terrific and always helpful and accommodating. We highly recommend Meyer music for all your music needs.
