Services
In addition to the classical works, alternative ("fun") pieces are often offered---popular, rock, country, movie themes, etc. ---for students who are interested in expanding their range of musical styles. For guitar students, we offer a program of study for both acoustic and electric guitar with the primary emphasis being on blues and pop & rock.
The Dallas Suzuki Academy offers a blend of Suzuki and traditional teaching methods for Violin students age 4 through adult. The result is a tailoring of instruction that will meet the individual needs of each student according to their age, playing level, rate of progression, personality, and distinct way of learning.
A. Well, I've been playing the violin for 35 years or so, and I'm still learning! Really, regardless of natural talent, any child or adult can develop skills and make progress in learning to play an instrument if they practice correctly and often. But, factors such as age, inherent ability, aptitude, hard work and interest all affect the rate of advancement, and the ultimate level that is reached.
It is possible to start your lessons once the school year has already begun - we will adjust the number of remaining lessons according to when you start. The school is open 7 days a week, and your lesson will be scheduled for the same day and time each week. You will arrange the specific lesson time with your individual instructor.

Over the past 12 years six of our grandchildren have studied violin with David Wolcott at Dallas Suzuki Academy. Following the Suzuki method, they progress in steps that are easy to master, and David is kind and patient with gentle approaches that make the lessons fun. Practicing several days a week at home with adult guidance, our kids learned simple pieces early, which over time became more challenging, each new piece imparting higher-level techniques that build toward a wonderful, advanced repertoire. David stresses basic music theory, learning the names of the notes, clapping rhythms, reviewing the fingering patterns for each musical key, and performing often in families and at David’s formal twice-yearly recitals. By the fifth grade we are performing intermediate solo pieces like Perlman’s “Concertino,” Bohm’s “Sarabande” and Mollenhauer’s “Fantasia: the Boy Paganini” that the kids just love. Those who continue into middle and high school get into standard violin repertoire such as Mozart violin concertos and the “Thais Meditation” with professional-level technique, reflecting David’s long tenure in the violin section of the Dallas Opera Orchestra. It has been a wonderful experience.

Please look in to other choices before this one, not saying the teachers are bad. Firstly its overpriced, currently private lessons offer less than their 30 minute lesson. Second this place is very unorganized, outdated, and even just dirty. Please look in to better options before putting your child here.
