Ithaca Guitar Works Way back in 1969 The Guitar Workshop, as it was called then, was opened by the late John Ellis. It was in the basement of a building on Eddy Street in the College Town neighborhood of East Hill near Cornell University here in Ithaca, New York. Many of our customers still remember that shop fondly and the incomparable Mr. Ellis. Meanwhile in 1971 architect William Downing bought and converted the old Ithaca High School into shops, restaurants, small businesses, offices and apartments. This four story brick castle like structure, was originally designed by famed Architect William Henry Miller and built in 1915.

I started taking guitar lessons in January 2016 and I'm still taking lessons. I love the the atmosphere of Guitar works. Never a dull moment I say! From the owner Kevin, my guitar teacher Mark and sales staff, thank you, you have made me feel like I've been a coming around since I was kid. It's only been 6 years, and I'm going to be 69 in a month! LOL! Part of the Guitarworks family, that's the difference! If you love music become part of the family!

Went in for the very first time this morning to purchase a violin for my daughter who is new to the instrument world. All of the staff were very warm, welcoming, and encouraging. Getting her hooked up with lessons very soon, and we both look forward to it! Very helpful and kind people.

Easily the best shop I've been to. I started trading at Guitar Works in the 90s. The shop in my town was terrible, so it was well worth the drive. I recently started up with guitar again after a long hiatus. While the decor changed somewhat, it was still the same great shop, and even some of the same people. The staff is friendly and helpful. I never feel like I'm being "sold" on something.

My first new guitar there was actually well below the budget, because they listened to what I wanted and made really solid suggestions on things to try. Like I said, it's easily the best shop I've been to.

A really good music store for service. They have always been good to me over the years with lessons and getting gear. Kevin has always been there to help me find the right gear and cables I need. You won't find this good of customer service at the competitors. The prices are usually pretty competitive. If he doesn't have he can get it pretty quickly for you. Support your local shops.
