Students have traveled from every continent except Antarctica to attend our guitar making and repair program. Our graduates have branched into employment and entrepreneurial startups in guitar making, guitar repair, road tech work, and many other lutherie related occupations. The core course taught at Roberto-Venn is a five month, 880 clock hour program designed to teach the basic skills for a career in guitar making, guitar repair, and other related professional opportunities.During the five month Guitar Making & Repair Course students learn guitar construction techniques, build a minimum of one acoustic and one electric guitar, and complete basic guitar repair and setup operations.

Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), and participates in several Federal Student Aid programs. Veteran's benefits may be available if you meet certain requirements. The student must demonstrate financial need to receive a Pell grant.
As part of our continuing effort to broaden the scope of our teaching and stay in touch with new developments in the building and repair field, we occasionally schedule guest lectures. We also have occasional surprise performances from guest musicians who share their stories of life on the road and guitar maintenance.
There are periods of time in our lives that shape us forever. I will always cherish the time I spent in Arizona, and I will never forget the friends and the memories I made. This has been the highlight of my life so far. Thanks to Roberto-Venn, the staff, and the class of Fall 2018, I am a better and more determined version of myself.
The Guitar Making and Repair Course consists of practical and theoretical training in acoustic and electric guitar construction and repair. The school offers two five-month (880 clock hour) courses each year, beginning in February and late August. Classes are held Monday through Thursday, from 8 AM to 6 PM and Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, except holidays, with one hour lunch, and mid-morning and mid-afternoon study breaks.

The oldest GUITAR MAKING SCHOOL in North America! *Although they sometimes take in repairs to work into their curriculum, R-V is NOT a repair shop, so the only reviewer offering low marks should amend his review and visit an authorized Gibson repair tech. This SCHOOL offers an introduction to a very deep and multifaceted craft. You get out of it what you put into it. 42+ years in business and alumni working in most of the major guitar companies in the world speaks volumes. There's always room for improvement, but overall I had fun as a student, made some very cool instruments, and learned a lot!

This is very unexpected and very sad! Very bad phone etiquette/customer service. I called the school this morning and asked if they could do some work on my guitar. I wanted to get my Gibson SG refretted. I was transferred to John who is suppose to be the go to person for my situation. Instead, I was told by John that he didn't want the job or the hassle because Stainless Steel frets are too hard on his tools and he decline to do the work then proceeded to rush me off the phone and hung up on me in mid sentence of my question!
I'm sorry but did I not call a well established and famed school of Luthiers for their assistance? I didn't call Guitar Center or Bizarre Guitar or any other fairly competent business, I went straight to the G.O.A.T so I thought! But I do appreciate that they saved me from spending my hard earned money there! I guess, thanks for NOTHING!

I was a student in 2012. I have been through lots of training and education, and this was the best educational experience I've ever had. They are great educators and trainers. People come from all over the world to this school for a reason. Graduates leave with solid skills for entering a historic trade.
