The Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association is a non-profit organization whose active membership is drawn primarily from educational institutions: elementary schools, junior high/middle schools, senior high schools, colleges and universities. Additional membership includes students and others (private instructors, business establishments) who are active in the musical community.
The Association is dedicated to enriching the cultural environment by helping all students develop a greater appreciation of music, providing the means for exploring both vocational and non-vocational opportunities in music, raising performance standards, and improving learning techniques.

They shared a feeling that important issues confronting the public music teachers throughout Southern California were not being adequately addressed. As a result of this meeting, the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association was formed. As major issues concerning instrumental music in schools developed, the organization began to undertake a more formal program of activities designed to benefit the school music director and his/her students.Clinics, workshops, festivals, uniform adjudication procedures, music lists and other activities were established to meet this goal.
The SCSBOA will support student and teacher growth in music education through its activities and promote the development of lifelong skills. We provide enrichment opportunities which present outstanding student musicians as models for all instrumental programs. We select and train adjudicators for band, orchestra, solo and ensemble festivals and for field and parade event competitions.

Video Conferencing & Online Presentation Thoughts - Dr. Gene Chung at Pasadena Christian School. Weekly asynchronous Jazz Improv Video Lessons focusing on fundamental, intermediate and advanced improv skills that can be applied to our instructional video play-a-longs. Students can work at their own pace supported with worksheets/PDFs.
