We were in the market for a new piano and visited several piano stores in the San Diego area. Greene Music stood out above the rest of the competition. We were impressed with Ken and the pianos. Ken is very knowledgeable and friendly. We purchased our piano and could not be more pleased. Conor helped us with our initial tuning and set up. We since have had a couple of questions and Conor has been amazing to work with. Conor has exceeded our expectations on more than one occasion and is a great asset to Greene Music. With so many 5 star reviews here I felt its important to share my less than stellar experience with purchasing my first acoustic piano at Greene Music. As a side note they offer "free gifts" in exchange for Yelp reviews which is frowned upon, if not completely against Yelp policy. In short summary, I do not believe that Greene Music lived up to the promises made at the time of my purchase.
I feel that because I purchased a low-end upright piano (still over $2,000) I have been treated as a low-end customer. If I could go back and do it again, I would save the money and buy a piano from Craigslist. In my initial visit to Greene I was sold on two key promises made to me by the salesman, Jaime. (For the record, Jaime has been very kind, but very slow to respond, requiring multiple phone calls and texts, and generally unhelpful in providing actual solutions to my concerns) 1. Jaime told me all pianos sold at Greene music are thoroughly inspected, serviced, & ensured to be in great shape before sale, suggesting this as a reason not to purchase from an individual seller where I don't know what I'm getting. 2.
I was also informed that every purchase includes a 10 year "Trade Up" policy, where you can trade your previous purchase for a piano of at least twice the value and receive credit from your original purchase. These two points convinced me to make a purchase on the spot. Unfortunately, neither of these promises came into fruition the way I expected.
The piano I purchased was very clearly NOT thoroughly inspected or serviced. And I discovered that they are not willing to extend the trade up offer unless the trade up is done as a one-time exchange. i.e. they will not allow me to return my current piano for a store credit voucher to purchase the newer 2x-value 'trade up' piano at a later date.
After purchasing my upright it was delivered within a few days and was completely out of tune with a dozen sticky keys and a practice pedal which was squeaky and did not function. I called Greene Music and was told to wait at least a month before having the piano tuned, which is fine, but tuning aside the piano was virtually unplayable due to the malfunctioning keys.
After several more calls to Greene they finally agreed to send a tuner to my house. The tuner looked over my list of issues but was in a rush and did not address them at that time. It took another two weeks and several more calls to Greene Music before an appointment was made to have the piano serviced. When it finally was serviced, the tuner (who is contracted by Greene but not an employee) told me, and I quote "there is no way this piano was serviced before it was delivered".
It took him several hours to look over each concern, oiling rods, removing keys to unstick them, cleaning various parts of the piano, and even reconnecting parts of the pedal mechanisms that were obviously out of place, before finally tuning it. After that service, the piano worked generally well, but many keys have fallen back out of tune within a few months, and despite the best efforts by the tuner to fix the practice pedal, the curtain that softens the hammers is incorrectly shaped and only softens half the keys.
I feel this, at the absolute least, should have been addressed in the pre-sale service that was promised. This month (6 months after purchase), I am making a temporary move out of state for work. I called Jaime to ask if they would allow me to return my piano for a store-credit voucher on my account that I could use to upgrade to a 2x value piano at a later date. Jaime said "that's not how we operate", but would ask the manager.
I didn't hear from Jaime for over a week, so I reached out again and finally received a phone call response where he said they are not willing to accomodate my request. As former music teachers, we did quite a bit of business with Greene Music over the years. When times were good in education and we had grant money, we were able to purchase new grand pianos for our schools and digital keyboards for our piano labs. We also purchased a beautiful Yamaha C7 for our home which we dearly loved. But like many retired folks, we downsized and moved into a condo and needed to also downsize our keyboard. Ken took us through the ropes of the available digital keyboards after we decided the size and no maintenance features would be the way to go. We are really looking forward to getting our new clavinova soon and want to say thanks to Greene Music for all their help over the years. They have been very good to us!

Large showroom, one of the few places to physically try out pianos in San Diego. Many options - new, used, upright, grand, digital, etc. Had a great experience working with Jaime, would recommend asking for him. Very patient and answered the entire checklist of questions that we had. The by-appointment-only policy was challenging at times since most of our visits were impromptu, but understandable given the staffing levels and recital hall. Could usually get in when needed. Bought a Yamaha CLP for our entire family, excited to have it delivered soon!

We were looking for a piano for my daughter and just searched online since we only moved to San Diego a year ago. Then we walked into Greene Music for a quick look. The inventory in the store was pretty impressive. We weren't sure what to choose and Jaime did an amazing job introducing us to all the models we laid our eyes on. From used to brand new, upright to baby Grand, different brands different technologies.
You name it. My daughter tried all of them as well! Jaime even came to our house with a piano footprint to help us make the decision. At the end we chose an Yamaha baby Grand which I didn't know it would be a good fit for our space. The piano came within a couple of weeks. It sounds wonderful and looks amazing in our living room. We can't be more happy with Jaime's recommendation. Great experience from beginning to the end! BTW, the piano is so shinning that my daughter is obsessed with dusting and removing any tiny smuggles. lol

Was in the market for a baby grand piano and finally stopped in to Greene. Was greeted by Ken, who has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the piano business. He took the time to give me a full lesson on the basics of various types of baby grand pianos, a little history, gave me a tour of several of the pianos in the realm of what we were looking for in our price range.
The final decision came down to two different pianos, one at the top of our price range, the other. a wonderful piano, but would be a bit of a stretch financially. Came back a few days later, brought in my family including my young boys who would be the ones learning on the piano. Ken presented the pros and cons of each side of the decision, but was never pushy or tried to force us into the more expensive decision.
In the end, we went with the less expensive option. BUT. they have a deal where you can trade up using the entire value of the original piano within 10 years! So, we may still go with the better, more expensive version yet. just a few years down the road perhaps. They provided us free delivery, free removal of our old piano, and a free tuning after the delivery. We are very happy with our new piano.

I booked for an in person appointment to check out the baby grand pianos; may or may not get one depending on the sale. Parked in front of Greene Music Store and I didn't realize I had missed a call from Ken, one of the sales associates who is beyond thorough and super knowledgable of what my husband and I are looking for in a baby grand piano (but mostly for me!).
We were in luck as one of the clients couldn't make the time slot. I love how Ken introduced us with the background of the sizing, sound, and materials of a baby grand piano. He showed us 3 different pianos: a Yamaha, Kawai, and a Baldwin. Ken is very passionate in showcasing each one. He had me try out each piano and I was able to tell the difference in feel and sound of each one.
I was thrilled to find out that this Baldwin piano was made in the US prior to overseas manufacturing in collapse of the company. The pricing of this baby grand was an unbelievable bargain. we couldn't pass up this opportunity, we ended up getting it! I purchased an N1X which arrived several weeks after. I am an amateur pianist so a piano would be really important to me. Also I had some hesitation buying a digital piano. Jaime was really patient and responsible and explained everything to me very carefully. N1X is definitely one of the best digital pianos with the highest value-to-price ratio, and the touch is comparable to a 7-inch.

Our family was searching for an upright piano for the kids. We made an appointment with Jaime. The whole shopping experience is stress-free and pleasant. Jaime is very patient and knowledgable. I'm not a piano guy, so I asked some fairly basic questions. Jaime patiently explains every details to me. We took about an hour before we decided to go with a Yamaha U1 piano. Sounds great. Price is reasonable. Highly recommend Greene Music to everyone. My kids are allowed to try out every pianos there, including the Bosendorfer grand piano.

I had been waiting a lifetime to buy a piano, so I visited Greene Music after going to a couple of other places back in 2020. Fast forward to 2022, and I RE-visited the store to finally make my dream a reality. I got there 20 minutes before closing, but Jamie Pecorella worked with me for more than an hour showing me around and explaining everything I needed to know about the Yamaha digital piano I wanted.

I'm so glad I decided to come to green music. We have four little kids and three oldest started in piano and after using my old digital keyboard it was time to upgrade. I started to search on Amazon and was quickly overwhelmed by the choices and reviews. I checked offer up but quickly realized it's not the best way to get a piano. So green music sounded like a better option to go because I needed to talk to a professional! Ken was so helpful!

What a wonderful experience looking for a piano. Ken is a delightful and talented salesman who really knows his pianos and really listened to what I thought I wanted in a piano. Received excellent service from Robert Catalano at Greene Music and he showed me the difference in touch and tone between two competing Yamahas (clavinova versus hybrid). Based on his guidance and knowledge I chose the Yamaha N2 and I am so pleased with this amazing piano! I can't fit a baby grand in my condo but when I close my eyes I am amazed at the authentic acoustic piano action and rich ambiance of this instrument.

The salesman who worked with us, Noel, was very knowledgeable and friendly. He was able to clearly lay out the differences between models and explain tradeoffs in cost and performance.
He also gave us plenty of time and space to consider our options and make a decision. The prices we saw at Greene were better than we saw elsewhere. Once the decision was made, the checkout process was smooth and easy. Delivery was scheduled for two days later. The delivery crew was very prompt and professional, making moving a piano up stairs look almost easy. Before we know it we were playing our new piano in our home.

I walked around, got the lay of the land, found the piano I was interested in (having shopped around online) and then went ahead and played a little bit. I went over and played some other pianos, went back to the original. took my time. Then Ken came in and asked if he could help me.
I asked a few questions, and he was obviously extremely knowledgeable about the specific piano I was looking at and about pianos in general. He also had a great deal of concern for and understanding of the process of becoming a good pianist, and he shared stories about piano students and things that had helped them to be successful. This was important to me, since one of the factors guiding our decision about a piano was our son's piano lessons. Ken was genuinely interested in and passionate about helping me find the best piano for our family at the best price.
He offered me a better price than I could find anywhere online, then offered to hold the piano until my husband could go back and check it out the next day. Then, patiently, he explained all that he had explained to me, to my husband. My wife and I recently visited Greene Music to purchase a new Yamaha Hybrid piano. I have nothing but praise for the service we received. The director of sales clearly (and patiently!) took us through the acoustic/hybrid options. In so doing he did not rush or pressure us into a decision. We were able to take our time making the right decision. Meanwhile our kids were enjoying a movie in a dedicated kids' area allowing us to focus on the purchasing task to hand. Their pricing for the piano was very competitive. The piano was delivered a couple of days later, as promised, without a hitch. Excellent service all round.

Went to the Yamaha-sponsored invitational sale of a university's pianos. The selection was huge with many fine instruments very reasonably priced. The salesperson, Mario, was knowledgeable and patient, and provided followup. Purchased a wonderful used grand piano to gift my daughter Kimberly's family, which was moved and set-up as scheduled. The piano's tuning exhibited a slightly sharp pulling of the bottom two octaves, which resolved itself after two days of settling So happy with the instrument and the opportunity to purchase a fine piano. Will be going back to Greene Music to purchase another piano for my son's new home, as his daughter will soon be old enough to receive piano lessons.

I traded in my Yamaha upright and purchased a Schimmel grand at Greene Music with Noel. Noel is the best, super nice and patient, very knowledgeable on every single details about piano. He helped us selected the best piano that fits our need. He made several phone calls, really tried to get the best price for us. He even provided in home consultation on where to put our new grand piano.
