Services
If you've never picked up a guitar (acoustic or electric), you'll be surprised at how quickly I can get you playing your favorite songs. I have found that over the past 20 years I have been teaching, songs you know are the best centerpiece for instruction. They contain all the elements of playing: chords, riffs, strums, melody, theory, to name a few.
At JCB Music, you will enjoy a small but mighty studio in which to record your music. Particularly well suited for singer-songwriters and Hip-Hop artists, the space itself is comfortable, cozy and laid-back, perfect in which to relax and create. Bring in your beats and track all your vocals with clear, exceptional sounding microphones.
As a competent, versatile session musician, I can provide drums, bass, percussion, backing vocals and more to your recording. In addition, I use Native Instruments Komplete 10 Software and have access to hundreds of impeccable sounding instruments. Need a Harpsichord for that Middle 8 or a fiddle for that solo; how about a trumpet ensemble for that chorus, or an overall sonic texture in the background.
I have spent most of my adult life in various aspects of the music business, including having been the owner and talent buyer of The Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, MA. As a singer-songwriter/performer, and recording engineer/producer, I decided to use my experience to help others reach their musical goals.

Can't tell you how lucky I was to find Craig Blaine and JCB. Encyclopedic musical knowledge, plays everything, full of fantastic ideas. What a great experience. Recorded eight songs with Craig and he made them sound great. Could not recommend higher!

The best recording experience ever. Craig was really help to get my voice right, capture harmonies which I've never done in my life and accompany my instrumentals. Highly recommended.

Craig is flat out awesome. I've been a gigging musician for a couple years now and always just played guitar and enjoyed that role. When my new band had gigs booked before we found a singer I was in a bind. I found JCB and read a few reviews and felt pretty sold. I emailed and within a week I had my first vocal lesson from Craig. Over the last 6 months my friends and family have been flat out floored by my progress with him.

Tomorrow is my 7th lesson with him. Between the one hour sessions and the hours of practice material he sends you home with he gives you everything you need to reach the next level. The best part as a rock musician he has always been able to find a way to put everything in terms I understand. The lessons are beyond affordable and incredibly flexible to schedule.

I really never expected to be able to sing and confidently say I can because of Craig. From day one he instilled a mindset of "I'm a singer working on my instrument" and that is a microcosm of his philosophy as a mentor. Craig has taught me how to sing with confidence all while encouraging and fostering a personal tone to my voice. I'm nowhere near done but Craig's abilities as a teacher have given me the ability to sing.

Working with Craig has been life changing! I started lessons with him two years ago with a limited guitar playing skill set and a desire to song write. He has coached me through all stages of my musical journey, from music theory to lyrical content. Craig is a songwriter and performer himself so he has tremendous respect for the craft. He's honest, but kind, with feedback, emphasizing the importance of words, chord progressions, cadence and phrasing.

Most important, Craig has helped build my confidence to the point where I am writing, recording and releasing my music on traditional platforms. If you're looking to grow as a musician and a human being, Craig is your guy! ~Tavia Breen

Craig is an awesome teacher! I would highly recommend. It is a combination of playing guitar but also singing as well! Craig plays a lot of gigs, pretty much one everyday. So that is his mindset in teaching. I ask him to play different songs, and he plays it just like it sounds. Very affordable prices. He is also very cool about missing appointments.

Craig is an awesome instructor! I went from never having touched a guitar to playing and singing songs of my choosing in a few short weeks! He loves what he does and it shows. Thank you Craig for your patience, your encouragement, and helping me with my confidence as a budding musician!

Craig is a great teacher. I never touched a guitar before meeting him and by the time of my third or fourth lesson, i was playing songs and even singing along to some. i'm not musically gifted or unique and had zero guitar skills coming into my lessons and Craig helped me meet my goals. He's patient, friendly and extremely easy to get a long with. make sure you practice in between your lessons with Craig and you will be playing song of your choosing in no time.

I absolutely love coming to Craig! I've been coming weekly for a little over a year for guitar and voice, and I'm proud to say I can play over 20 songs confidently. The price is awesome and he's the most convenient person I've ever experienced. He is almost always available at the times I need, and he teaches me how to play any song I want to learn. He's great. Highly recommended.

I was a beginner and took lessons from Craig to get started. He made me feel very comfortable and was very supportive of my efforts. After four or five months of practice I could actually play a few songs that we've all heard. It was a fun experience and I recommend Craig to other beginners as well as the more experienced player who wants someone down to earth with no pretensions.

I just finished my tenth guitar lesson with Craig, and he has taken me from not knowing any guitar at all, to being able to play and sing along to about 15 songs (and none of them are nursery rhymes!). He is a wonderful teacher, and is very flexible to meet your needs as a student. He can work with whatever songs inspire me, which makes learning guitar that much more fun!

You start with actual songs YOU want to learn, not with Yankee doodle or whatever beginner songs most books or classes start you on. I've tried learning guitar at least 4 times over the past 10 years, and this is the first time I've ever made it past learning a few chords! Thank you, Craig, for being such an awesome instructor!

My fear of voice lessons and learning to use my very basic guitar skills was something I am learning to overcome with Craig as a teacher. I have taken 3 lessons and I really feel like I am improving. Stressing the importance of practice (DUH), he has helped me be more disciplined. What I enjoy the most is the coaching I get when playing a song, ways to sing certain phrases, and tailoring the chords to accomodate my voice.

Even though these may seem basic, it is all very important for a beginner to learn this way. I have seen alot of improvement in just the past month, and oh yeah---I'm having fun!

Craig has been extremely instrumental in helping me learn how to sing. I've played guitar for years but never had a "voice." My voice would snap, crackle, and pop, then simply give out after half a song. Over the past several months, I'm able to project and hit notes that I never thought possible. I'm still no Mariah Carey (a boy can dream, can't he?), but I was sure all these years that I simply couldn't sing.

Now at least I don't sound like a dying cat anymore. and I still have a lot more room to grow. Craig has a great little studio for practicing, lessons, or recording. It's cozy and comfortable. It doesn't matter what style of music you like, Craig is all about making *you* get better. He gives great feedback on everything from correcting pitch to song structure. all in a way that is tailored to your skill, potential, and taste. Check him out if need any guitar, voice, or recording options. You'll only get better.

Craig is a terrific teacher with a good ear for music and special gift for teaching. I am currently learning a variety of songs with him working on the guitar and vocals of each song. He can tailor make your practice sessions to interest you and to find your true passion for the guitar. You will not go wrong by giving him a try.
