My kids having been taking lessons here for over 5 years. Mrs. Sugars is a wonderful teacher. She teaches theory and explains basic concepts to the kids. You don't see that in too many music schools. We also do state convention every year lead by Dr. Sugars! We love this place and highly recommend it.

Exceptional learning experience. Children are actually learning how to play and understand what all those signs and symbols mean. Teachers have the education behind them to understand children (and us parents) in order to see that they will be able to perform (and play for enjoyment) in the future. LOVE this place. Strongly recommend them!

Our experience with this music school has been far from acceptable. They were rude, unorganized, and did not appear to be of a high standard. The language used by the owners was unacceptable in front of the children. There are many music schools in the area which may provide a more satisfactory environment. This is definitely not one of them.

Our experience with HMI has been incredible! We have been there for almost five years now and our children are thriving! They are the only ones with an international curriculum accredited worldwide. yep no other music school can boast their record! I travel an hour to get there.why? Because they are the only ones in Houston worth it!

I began at houston music institute at 12 years old learning voice from JM Sugars. At 31, I still frequently take from her to brush up on my professional repertoire. This is a great institute with the ability to teach children, novices and professionals. Juilliard trained musicians flock here. I highly recommend!
