West Side Music Academy joined the West Seattle community in 1998, when owners, Chris and Cami MacDonald, began teaching lessons from their home on SW Dakota Street. Today WSMA boasts a great line-up of vibrant teachers offering a wide variety of lessons as well as group classes. All of our teachers are experienced musicians who are actively performing and recording while guiding budding musicians.Each teacher has their own unique way of drawing out the creative juices. We couldn't be happier to be part of this wonderful West Seattle community. Sharing music with so many of you fantastic folks is what makes us tick. West Seattle is amazingly supportive of the musical arts and has a loyalty that keeps us feeling humbled and grateful. For these reasons we love to support local charities and schools whenever we can by holding free (or donation to charity) concerts at places like C&P Coffee Co. and The Skylark Cafe and by supporting The West Seattle Community Orchestra.
Marching band and school orchestras are often the first place where budding trumpeters, trombonists, tuba and French Horn players get their start. From there, players can march down a wide variety of avenues, from Broadway orchestras in New York City to New Orleans brass bands marching down the streets of the French Quarter.
We offer group classes once a month (twice a month in the summer) taught by various teachers on various topics that apply to musicians of all sorts. These 45-minute classes are $15 OR If you need to miss one of your lessons during the month (please give your teachers advance notice) you may enroll in one of these classes for free.

I can't stress enough how wonderful West Side Music Academy is. My son has been taking piano lessons with Cheli for about a year, and he always looks forward to seeing her. He bounced a bit between wanting to do voice lessons or piano lessons or both, and she was completely understanding and didn't pressure him. She is always so calm and my son loves her sense of humor.
It has been so fun seeing his progression with the piano - it's crazy how much he learned in just a year. Adriane at the front desk is a sweetheart and is always welcoming and kind. We are taking a break from lessons (stupid Covid19) - but he still practices every day. We miss you guys and can't wait to see you again!
