Suzuki Institute Of Seattle At Suzuki Institute of Seattle, we offer private and group instruction for violin, viola, cello, and piano. Most children start between the ages of 4-7. Parent involvement: a chance to bond with your child. Ear training: Kids learn by ear (Suzuki is known as the mother tongue method). Social: group classes provide a social environment to reinforce new skills and practice playing as an ensemble. A fun, playful introduction to music and song for 3-5-year-olds. An excellent preparation for starting an instrument.

The Suzuki method of music instruction was developed over 50 years ago by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki of Matsumoto, Japan. The method is based on the concept that every child's innate musical talent can be nurtured. A child can be taught music at a very early age much the same way that he or she learns to speak.
Cello students at the Institute receive one individual lesson per week. At each lesson, the instructor observes and listens to the student playing a piece or a tonalization exercise. This usually includes material the student has previously learned, as well as the piece the student is currently working on.
The viola is the middle voice of the string family, slightly larger than a violin but sharing the same strings as the cello. Viola can be started from an early age, and its rich and beautiful tone makes it a very rewarding instrument to play. We enjoy the opportunity of taking students on the journey of learning viola and the many life lessons that viola study teaches.
Explore Suzuki Music is a 7-week pre-instrument class for 3-5 year-olds and their parents. Parents will learn about the Suzuki Method and how to be a prepared Suzuki parent when your child is ready for individual lessons.

My daughter has been at Suzuki Institute for 9 years (since she was four years old). She loves it and the teachers have always been great. The annual Seabeck retreat is a highlight of our family's year.

We've had a wonderful experience at the Suzuki institute with our four year-old in the Explore Suzuki music and now individual and group cello lessons. The Suzuki method is preparation for music and much more than music, and the careful and kind instructors at the Suzuki Institute have been masterful.

Horrible experience. I love Suzuki and would recommend the method, but STAY AWAY FROM SUZUKI INSTITUTE OF SEATTLE! Felt a twinge of serious RACISM after the woman discovered my husband and daughter were black! We were squeezed in to a time so tight, that when we couldn't figure out how to get into the building, and waited for her to stop talking to someone else, she told us she didn't have time for us (and this was the director)!
