We love Musikgarten! Our daughter has been taking Musikgarten classes since she was 6 months old and really enjoys them. She has developed a love for a variety of musical styles and been introduced to many cultural traditions through the music, history and storytelling. The classes also teach patience, sharing and responsibility which are fantastic values that will serve her well throughout her life.

A great space for children - on their own - to learn music from the teacher through singing, playing (very briefly) an instrument, dancing around the room and enjoying a one-hour class with a handful of other preschoolers. I was a bit surprised, our first class a free trial, to learn once I arrived that the teacher pushes the parents and caretakers out of the room (into a cramped waiting room at the side or back outside), even if the child is not quite ready to be in this new environment solo. (So come prepared.) If a child struggles through the separation initially, one parent is asked to sit on the floor at the back of the room to give confidence, but as soon as the child I had stopped crying, the parent is dismissed with "This is not a performance.
This is a class." Children, by the end of the thirty minutes alone with the teacher are asked to call in the parents and continue with them. At this point, more of the children were comfortable and eager to share. Most, having much to say and share about the experience once class let out.

We started classes at Musikgarten when my girl was 8 months. After two years of attending the class I can say the program works. I have seen how my girl has developed an interest in making music both with regular instruments as well as with regular objects like pots and pans. Nancy is a gentle and understanding teacher that guides each child and parent. We hope to continue attending Musikgarten for many years to come.

Nancy's Musikgarten classes are wonderful. They're a fun mix of music and movement, listening and learning. Both my kids have been going for years and it's been amazing to watch their development. My (3 yr old) son went to class just this morning, in fact, and when I told him where we were going he got super excited.
