All 5 of our summer day programs are running onsite this year! Check out programs for theatre, piano duets, fiddling, chamber music, and Suzuki students below. You shouldn't have to worry about where and how to learn music, so we're offering trial lessons to make sure you feel comfortable. If you choose not to continue, your trial lesson is free. You have a goal too - to learn your favorite song, to be as good as the kids in your class, to play alongside your granddaughter. Together we can make it happen.

We get to know this wonderful school by attending their storytelling concert at library. I'm impressed by the professional performance, so I register my kid for the Music pups class. Both of us love this class a lot. The teacher Jennifer is awesome. She's very passionate and knows how to engage everyone in the class. Both of my kid and I enjoyed sing and dance with her in the class.
It helped us build a good memory that will last a long time. And I also learned some music that I could sing to my child in the future. I highly recommend this class to anyone that have babies / toddlers.

My 5 year old boy signed up the high five piano class this fall semester and he really loves the class. The teacher is very friendly and patient, and the class is a good intro of music and piano to kids. In addition, School offers study materials and no need to purchase textbook yourself. Great starting point for children's music life!

My two children have been taking piano lessons with Yas Ishibashi at Powers. My youngest started as a first grader, my oldest as a second grader. I am amazed at how far they've come so quickly. Powers emphasizes performances early and often, which is just the incentive my children sometimes need to put in that extra bit of practice. This emphasis also teaches them that it's OK to make mistakes--that they can learn from them in the (futile but worthy) pursuit of perfection. Our experience with Yas has been wonderful--she is flexible, fun, and forgiving!

I have been actively involved for years at this excellent community music school, singing in the Belmont Open Sings and studying the flute as an adult returning to music. My son also studied clarinet and bassoon for many years and has continued to play as an adult. It is centrally located, has parking available, and most importantly, excellent instruction.

My 4-year-old son is enrolled in the Dalcroze Eurhythmics class and he absolutely loves it. He's not ready for an instrument but he loves music, singing and dancing and he is very active. This is the perfect class for him because it teaches basic musical concepts and uses the kids' own bodies as the instruments. They learn to move with the beat and the flow of the music.
I personally think it's a great step before learning an instrument. We drive from Boston to Belmont for this class even though other places closer by also offer Eurhythmics class. After doing some research/observation of other classes, I think this class makes it fun for the kids without it being overly technical/theoretical. The teacher is energetic and highly dedicated. The best part is that my son never complains about rushing out of the house early on Saturday for this music class because he enjoys it so much.

We took Mini keys and it was very disappointing in terms of the instruction quality. It was very rushed and absolutely no creativity was infused in the instruction. There was also no feedback/discussions throughout the class and then an unexpected report card was given at the end of the semester which we thought was strange for this age group. We hope to find a more developmentally appropriate class for our 4 year old.

We have had two semesters of "Music Pups" an early childhood music class for infants to age 4. Out teacher is wonderful and the songs, movements and activities are both instructional and very engaging for the children. The music is incredibly varied and the activities introduce timing, rythym, beat, tone and world music in a basic accessible way. Many parents and caregivers bring younger siblings along. The kids have an amazingly fun time, and the caregivers do too! Powers is a great community music center and asset.
