The Aurora School of Music was established in 2003 by Vera Holczer, a Hungarian pianist who came to the US after finishing her degree at the Budapest Bartok High School Conservatory. UCLA took her to California at the age of 19, and CIM to Cleveland four years later. During the six years of professional training, Ms. Vera acquired tremendous teaching and performing experience.
At the Aurora School of Music, your teachers have all performed at the highest levels, earned advanced music degrees, and accrued years of voice teaching experience. Our teaching artists have attended some of the country's leading conservatories and opera programs, performed everything from Handel's Messiah to Mozart's Die Zauberflote and Benjamin Britten, and can help you reach your goals, no matter how lofty or practical they might be.
The best way to learn how to produce a beautiful sound is to work with a skilled musician on your instrument. You will be able to observe their technique up close, and as you practice and listen, you will start to imitate what you hear. Furthermore, our instructors play at a professional level in orchestras, chamber ensembles, and more - you will benefit from a violin, cello, viola or bass player who is actively involved in music-making. Our faculty members also have years of teaching experience, and they have degrees from some of the nation's best music schools.
A piano lesson can only be as effective as the individual presenting the material, and our music educators have a tremendous amount of experience. Teachers at the Aurora School of Music have attended schools like Rice, the Oberlin Conservatory, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and more. Furthermore, many have earned masters degrees or achieved other high levels of music education.

Mr. Neil has been my grandson's euphonium teacher for the past 3.5 years. This man is talented, knowledgeable, patient and phenomenally enthusiastic! My grandson learned a great deal from him. We wish the very best for you, Mr Neil. Thank you!

Mr. Tom Ray, my electric guitar teacher, not only is he talented in playing but definitely has a knack for teaching. Vera also has the knack for having the best instructors for teaching. I look forward to be with Tom each Saturday for my hour

We love Ms. Vera and the School of Music! She does such a great job encouraging each student at their level while also challenging them to learn more. Her love of music is contagious. Her teachers are all great too!

In response to the reviewer who claims that the teachers do not last long at ASM, my teacher has been sharing her expertise and knowledge there for more than 15 years. Some teachers leave because they find spots in orchestras or bands, some leave because they don't want to teach any more, and as in any employment situation, some are asked to leave because they are not a good fit. Perhaps the reviewer who was upset that her teacher was asked to leave was the only student that teacher had left.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. There was a dedicated flute teacher at this establishment for over 10 years bringing in over 100 students during her time at this school and was fired with 0 warning. After giving her full time to the establishment, the director did not have the decency to give her even a days notice of termination of employment. Teachers here only seem to last a few months to at most 2 years and then are either fired or leave due to poor management.

I have seen many wonderful teachers come and go due to the director's opinions. Many of this teachers students were there only for this teacher, not the lessons. It is discouraging to see this many strong reviews on google. Do not waste your time or money here.

I took lessons here for 2 years as I prepared to audition to study music in college. My teachers were always amazing technicians who focused specifically on the skills and techniques related to becoming the best musician I could be. I'm proud to say that I passed every audition I took, and graduated with my degree in Music Education 4 years later, in no small part due to the guidance of my teachers at Aurora School of Music. I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking to learn an instrument or take their skills to the next level!

@auroraschoolofm has such onerous policies. Staff spends half of their time on the phone explaining contractual fine print about how the school is going to $@&%! them. I would never re-enroll here. They should really learn who the customer is. #GreedyOwner

I've been taking my son for violin lessons at the Aurora School of Music for almost 2 years now. They have helpful staff, and an organized system of scheduling. The talented pool of teachers cover a wide variety of instruments ranging from piano, wind, brass, guitar, and voice; to a variety of musical genres such as jazz, classical, pop and even rock band.

After several months in a dingy temporary location, they have finally re-opened their doors late January 2016, to a new, modern state-of-the-art facility equipped with a performance hall and several music rooms. The TV in lobby waiting area only plays Tom and Jerry cartoons, which adds to the overall awesomeness of this place.

I am Brian Harper, the parent of a 9 year old child on the autism spectrum. I write to express my sincere gratitude for the life-changing work that is carried out each day at the Aurora School of Music. My son began taking piano lessons with the school's director, Ms. Vera Holczer, just over one year ago. In this relatively short period of time, I have noticed that not only have his skills as a musician improved, but the change in his self-confidence, and adaptability is nothing short of miraculous.

These changes can be directly attributed to the hands-on, humanistic pedagogical model that is stressed throughout the school. The school climate emphasizes the joyful pursuit of artistic excellence, and this is most apparent in the manner in which Vera takes the time to personalize her instruction. Specifically, her friendly demeanor and enthusiastic response to his efforts and high personal expectations has helped my son to understand that not only is he a capable musician, but that he is cared for and adept.

I can recall a specific anecdote that speaks clearly to these points. I recall an afternoon lesson during which my son seemed to be distracted and anxious. I was aware that prior to our arrival at the Aurora School of Music, Brian had experienced a challenging day at school; as a result I assumed that his subsequently high level of anxiety would carry over into his piano lesson and prevent him from working to his full potential that day. Vera, noticing immediately that Brian was not himself, addressed his reluctance with encouraging words, positive feedback and, perhaps most importantly, a warm hug.

The alleviation of Brian's anxiety was tangible--perhaps for the first time that day he smiled, took a deep breath and was able to focus on the task at hand. From there, she was able to coax from Brian a focus and intensity that was truly a joy to watch. Navigating the challenges that correspond with Autism is at times, quite frustrating. The journey for Brian is often marked by teachers, counselors and therapists who stress the limitations of his condition.

Perhaps the most priceless aspect of my son's experience with the Aurora School of Music is that he has come to embrace his true capabilities, and it is from this that he finds strength and confidence. I know of no other organization that could create such a world for my son.

I can't say enough good things about this school. The head master/owner is one of the most enthusiastic woman I know with all her energy toward the school. My daughter has been attending the school for 3 yrs now and my son will be starting soon. The teacher staff is great and very well diversified. They do a great job of making music a fun adventure for the kids. I can't say enough
