Ive been a customer to GSM for years, and being able to work here has been one of the greatest opportunities in my life. As I've learned so much from Mr. Kevin and Mr. Justin about not only life but about fixing guitars and helping others. Overall a great place to work with amazing people!

I was referred to Great Southern by Martin guitars after running into some fret/fretboard issues on my HD28. Kevin took care of me and did a 10/10 job on my frets. My guitar is better now than the day I bought it new, I couldn't be more pleased with his top notch workmanship and service. Great guy to talk guitar with too. Kevin is the real deal, go give him a visit!

Recently, Kevin did some work on my Gretsch semi-hollow electric guitar. He was able to fix a bad ground buzz, replaced the plastic nut with a bone nut and got all the intonation in order. I could not believe the tone improvement! So much so that I elected to not go ahead with putting on a roller bridge. Kevin does great work and I highly recommend him!

I'm a bit conflicted here. I wanted to support a local shop (been there in another industry), so I've taken 2 different guitars to Kevin for setup and some additional work. I am in Houston area but not near cypress, so every drop off/pickup is hours of my life. The first setup came out really well, but I had him replace the tuners as well (something I've done at home and is very easy on a fender).

The cost was high (should have installed tuners myself), but the guitar played noticeably better. Great setup, but pricey. I also didn't get the original tuners back (forgot about this until I got home). He said I could come get them but the only time after that I was in the area the shop was not open. I brought another guitar in for a setup and some fret work.

The action was decent before hand, so the benefit of the setup was not that apparent, but it was slightly better. The fret work was not good. Frets were still sharp/extended beyond the edge of the neck. A handful of frets were not polished and you can feel the roughness on bends. The price was very high for the work, especially based on the outcome.

If it played like a custom shop guitar, I could handle it.but the frets still feel worse than any other guitar I've owned and the improvement after the work was minimal. All in all, Kevin is an interesting guy and these may be isolated issues, but I've decided it's not worth the time to drive out there again. Also, be sure get a quote prior to the work. Price vs Performance Guitar 1 - 3 stars (good setup but high cost, didn't get my parts back) Guitar 2 - 1 star (subpar fret work, very high cost)

This is the place to come the repair will always be done right i have been a customer for 40 years i always have been very happy with the repair iam very picky where i leave my.guitar i have purchased all my equipment from greatsouthern music. Exceptional customer service and expertise. Kevin transformed my diamond in the rough pawn shop find into my dream guitar. I delivered to GSM an out of whack Fender American Std Strat, I had started to regret purchasing, because it played terribly. After Kevin's pro set-up, this guitar is an absolute pleasure to play - it plays and sounds beautiful! I am already planning on delivering one of my acoustic guitars to Kevin for a saddle replacement and thorough set-up. Thanks GSM-Kevin for a superb set-up!

I can't recommend this place enough! I was impressed from the very beginning - Kevin thoroughly answered all of my questions (including ones I didn't even know I had!). I'm also so impressed that he remembers his customers and little details about them. You can tell that he truly cares about his work and his customers. Kevin has been an absolute pleasure to work with, and has done amazing repair (and general routine maintenance) work on both my electric and acoustic guitars. Affordable and extremely high-quality! He's got a lifelong customer in me. :)
